Storing turky bacon and Canadian bacon

So, I've never, ever bought bacon of any sort.

I just opened my first package of Canadian bacon (it's really thin, is this right?). How do I store the rest? I also have a package of turkey bacon.

Do I need to freeze this or will it be okay in the fridge? How long will it stay good in the fridge?

Sorry I'm asking so many questions. I'm dealing with a lot of stuff I've never bought before! :-)

I do not buy the canadian bacon but I do buy the turkey bacon. I always cut the package in half and then freeze 1 half immediately and leave the other in the fridge. 1/2 is plenty for the week for me and my bf.

In my experience, turkey bacon lasts quite a while (between me & dh we use 4 strips a day, and the package keeps in fridge quite well for a couple of weeks) and canadian bacon you have to use quickly or it turns brown. Check the "canadian bacon" post (I think it's under chit chat or phase I) about someone else who's had better luck storing canadian bacon. It might just be that we don't like the stuff too much so we don't eat it too often when we do have it in the fridge.

PS Louis Rich is the best brand turkey bacon -- my dh did the shopping last time and bought Jennie O, which is pretty terrible imho!
