Little goof??

Good day,

I am at the final of Phase 1. I can see the difference in the belly area, haven't gotten on scales yet to check that out yet. But I know that I goofed over the weekend. I had two Rock Green Lights, 84 cals, 2g carbs. Do I need to start Phase 1 over from the beginning, or continue it for an extra week?

Thanks, Pam NY

Hey there Pam! From everything I've seen on here - just move on to phase 2. We all have little hiccups along the way, and we just pickup from where we left off and keep on truckin'. Welcome to P2! You're gonna love it!

Hi Cathy,

I am a little leary about adding back some "good" carbs. And I will go slow at first,as I have read in some of the other board messages. My question is, I love Special K (with red berries), is this a good cereal or a bad cereal, if I do with fat-free milk?

Thanks,
Pam NY
(I really enjoy this message board, there is so much information available!)

Hi,

Special K is too low in fiber for South Beach.

Pam, I'm crazy about Fiber One Honey clusters. It has 14g of fiber and 5g sugar, and it's made with whole grain wheat! It's not completely inside the guidelines for SBD because of some corn syrup in it, but with that high of fiber and 1.25 cup serving it curbs my hunger for the morning. I do limit my intake of it so that I'm not having it every morning. Sometimes I throw it in my yogurt for something a little fun!

Fiber one also makes one that isn't sweetened, and I know Jen (caffinemachine) really likes it. You could ask her about it.

Don't worry about that corn syrup in your cereal.

I checked the box again, and it has 1.25c or 55g listed as a serving. I figured it was a bit higher because of the extra fiber. I think I only have about a cup though.

Everytime I eat it, I think of the old Saturday Night Live psudo-commercial with Phil Hartman for "Colon Blow."

Since 1 1/4 cups is close to 2 grain servings (60 grams), your 1 cup is probably closer to 1 1/2 South Beach grain servings.

Enjoy your cereal!

I guess I'll enjoy with a little more moderation! I had been counting it as one serving... oops.
