Cant seem to stick with it...

Hello everyone!!!! I have been lurking for about two weeks now (and been going on and off south beach for those two weeks. I just cant seem to get past day three. I have read the getting started thread to see what I am missing, but I honestly cant seem to find the problem. I am 5'4" and 135, looking to lose up to 20 pounds (it depends on how I feel when I get to 120 pounds).

Here is a typical day. Keep in mind I do up to an hour of exercise daily.

Breakfast is one of the quiches from the book or 2 eggs scrambled in a fat free cooking spray, and two slices of turkey bacon. I have both of those with a glass of skim milk.

snack: SLice or two of cheese with a diet caf. free soda

lunch: huge salad with chicken or tuna and a fat free dressing

snack: 2 tbsp pb with a glass of milk

dinner: chicken or tuna with green beans/broccoli/salad and black beans

snack: no sugar added hot chocolate

I also drink about three cups of green tea a day, I drink at least 64oz of water, and Most days I have a cup or two of coffee with splenda and a little skim milk in it.

Does anyone see what I am doing wrong (if anything...Maybe I just need to get a little more will power and give it a few days)?

Each time I follow this for a few days, I lose up to 4 pounds, and I dont ever really gain it all back. Im not a horrible eater, but I do have a sweet tooth, and I love my fruit and cookies and chocolate. Nothing else do I crave.

Thanks for you help in advance!!!!

Hi and welcome! I am glad you decided to come out of lurk-dom!

The menu you posted looks pretty good, but a couple of things jump out at me.

First, is the nsa hot chocolate from a package? If so, it isn't SB friendly. You can make South Beach hot cocoa that is legal AND counts as a dairy serving by mixing 1 cup of skim or 1% milk with unsweetened cocoa powder and splenda.

One of your snacks was peanut butter and milk, the other was just the hot chocolate. Maybe your snacks should be more substantial and satisfying. How about adding some celery sticks with the peanut butter? Or, how about some veggies slices dipped in salad dressing?

If you are having a hard time sticking to phase 1, maybe you should move on to phase 2. You can start by adding one fruit and one grain to your mealplan for one week. Then each week you increase your fruits and grains by one each until you are up to three of each in week three. This often works for those who have a hard time sticking to phase 1.

I hope this help! Let us know if you have any other questions!
