Heading 'back to the beach' tomorrow.

My hubby and I have decided to head 'back to the beach' tomorrow, LOL. Last summer we both lost a ton of weight on the South Beach lifestyle, but because we didn't maintain our healthier habits in the meantime, we've both gained back a lot of the weight we'd lost. I'm worse off than he is -- I just seem to have thrown caution to the winds and have been eating and NOT exercising like there's no tomorrow. ::frown:: So, back to the beginning we go.

I'm not going to weigh in or anything -- first because my scale is broken (seriously, it is!), and second because I'm more concerned about how my clothes (don't) fit than the number on the machine anyhow. Believe me, I'll *know* when I'm making progress just by clothes. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm probably between 145 and 150-ish, which is pretty high for my height of 5'1 1/2. I'm wearing a size 14 to a 16 right now. Last summer I was wearing 7/8, and I hadn't quite reached my goal of 6 or less. This time I'm going to make it. :)

I had back surgery years ago, and I have arthritis where the pins are. I've also broken both ankles previously, and have some arthritis there. Both of those parts are aching now, nearly every day -- and I know it's from the extra weight. Plus, I'm 35 now and tired of feeling 50. I don't expect I'll ever look 17 again (and wouldn't really want to, LOL), but I'd like to at least feel healthy and more energetic.

My hubby and I have changed careers since the last time I was here. I've left Executive Assistant/Marketing Writing, and he's left Graphic Design. We've started our own professional pet care service. Basically, we're professional pet sitters and dog walkers, and take care of pets while the owners are away or busy. We also do puppy care, bottle feed littles, and take care of 'special needs' animals. It's a lot to do, and because it's our own business there's a lot that keeps us busy - sometimes too busy to take the time to eat right or exercise. (Most or all of the time, really.) Hubby is taking care of the house and yard, and I'm doing the marketing, Meet & Greets and hiring part-time help, and we're both doing the pet sits besides. It makes for a busy day. We usually start around 7:30 AM, and often don't finish up until after 9. Soon we'll be working even later, too, if the hotel we're trying to partner with really delivers the clients it claims it will. ::fingers crossed::

So, somehow in there we have to find the time to create/eat healthier meals, and to get more exercise than taking an occasional dog for a walk around the block. All things considered, having our own business *should* give us the freedom we need to do this successfully -- we just haven't been prioritizing it enough.

Glad to be back. Wish us luck, please! :)

Hi Angelle and Brian! Welcome!!

It sounds like you have both had a lot of changes in the recent past! I'm glad you decided to return to the beach and post with us here!

With such busy schedules, it is very important to plan ahead. I prefer to plan for 3 days at a time. I create meal plans, shop and prepare as much as I can ahead of time (slicing veggies, pre-cooking chicken, roasting veggies, etc.). Having plenty of the right foods on hand makes it much easier to stay on track when you are pressed for time.

Take a look at the Recipes folder as well as the Journals folder below if you need some meal ideas. Also, feel free to start your own journal. It really help!

Keep in touch!

Boy your story sounds so much like mine! Only I've let 2yrs lapse between my success and now! I am also 5'2 and weigh about 144 right now (that's with shoes on!) I got down to a size 6, bought a new closet full of clothes and got ride of all my bigger sizes, now I have nothing to wear! Ha!

Anyways, I wanted to say "hi" and let you know you are not alone, my dh are trying to prioritze our lives to be SBD/healthy too. I started a journal in this message board to help keep me honest, so if you ever feel alone just take a peek.

Congratulations on taking the leap of faith to start your own business, it's a LOT of work but can be so much more rewarding! And congratulations for starting SBD again, and you can add that to your success too, healthy success!

Hugs!
