I am Back and Ashamed of Having Failed

Hi everybody. After a few months (since April 2006) of being gone I am back. Where had I gone? Well, I was not losing like I thought I should have been losing so I quit SBD and went to Weight Watchers instead. Well, I failed there too. WW really is a good program, just not for me. I hate paying my money out for them to tell me something I already knew before I left home; that was whether I had lost or gained. I found that WW allows me too many choices. Take sugar for example. WW does not advocate substitute sugar, they use the real thing. They say you can eat anything, just count your points (portion control)and stop. Well, I am a compulsive overeater who is now in the throws of sugar. I am diabetic and my sugar is out of control. I spoke with my husband tonight and he really wants to get back on the SBD so I told him we would start right now. I dread the first two weeks, but I need those two weeks to get my feet planted back on solid ground again. For me, abstaining is the only way to go; getting rid of the craving and then not feeding it. Anyone out there who is a compulsive overeater will know what I am talking about. Compulsive overeating is always right there, it is an in your face demon hidden just beneath the waters. When you let your guard down, it acts like an alligator, reaching up out of the water with the ultimate surprise and then biting you in the butt. Let your guard down, as I have done, and before you know it you are off and running, so bogged down in the food you are sick. That is where I am now.
No more whinning....Can I have a little wine with that whine. lol On a postive note, I am so glad to be back. Thanks for not closing up shop while I was gone, thanks for being here.

Hey, welcome back!

Successful dieting is all about finding what works for 'you'. Every diet does not work for everyone. I am glad you found that SBD is what works for you and you're back with us.

Good luck, check in often and post questions as needed!!

I can relate! I'm new here and am hoping to survive these first two weeks! Hopefully they will just fly by for both of us!

Welcome back! I, too, wandered away from the Beach this year, and am newly back. My DH and I started Phase I again on Monday; Today is our 6th day. Like you, I'm excited to be back on PI, because I've been completely out of control with sugars and breads and fats -- it's lovely to have the structure of Phase I to get that stuff back under control. :)

Don't be ashamed you were gone -- celebrate with me that you (we!) are back. :)

::hugs::
