Can Someone Define "Water Weight" ?

I'm wondering what makes all of this weight come off in the phase one. I am on P1, D4 and I have already lost 3.5lbs!!! I hear people talking about water weight. What exactly does that mean? Will it be harder for me to lose the weight when it comes to Phase two?

TIA!

Here's a past daily dish about water weight.

:) The human body is made mostly of water, and it is normal for all human beings to retain a certain amount of water in our tissues. Many women retain extra water just prior to or during their menstrual period -- but those of us who do not have periods retain water also. Everyone does. In Phase I, we're releasing a lot of this excess water by having a healthier diet and, for some, getting exercise. This does not mean we are hurting ourselves, as long as we keep drinking enough water to stay hydrated.

In Phase II, we really begin burning fat and reinforcing the healthy eating that we begin in Phase I, and that is when true fat burning really kicks in. I wouldn't have fear that you won't lose weight -- you will, slowly, steadily, and at a healthy rate. But you probably won't lose 3.5 lb. in a week on Phase II (then again you might) because that is TOO fast to be healthy, and once the excess water is gone that much loss at once could mean loss of lean muscle and healthy tissue, which you do NOT want. :)

No worries! :) You'll do fine. :)

Thanks so much for your answers. I really appreciate it! I think what I am going to do is weigh myself every day during phase 1 and then weigh only once a week during phase two. I really am liking this diet a lot!

Cheers!
