Hi All,

I have been lurking on this board since last week. Have read all the great advices from CLs and other board members. I think you all rock.

I had done SBD before starting in Jan 2004. I started with 152 lbs. In P1 ihad lost about 7 lbs and in p2 abt 11 lbs. Ended with 134 lbs. Lost total of 18 lbs. But then i discontinued as I got pregnant. Now I have a one year old son. and I still BF him.
Now My weight is way heigher than it should be. I started at 178 lbs.My target is 130 Lbs. So I have about 50 lbs to loose.
I started with P1 on 26th July. Today is 9th Day. In first 2-3 days I lost about 2 lbs but so change since then. What am I doing wrong? Here is my sample menu for past so many days:

Morning
1 cup Tea with 1/2 cup 99.5% Fat Free milk and Sugar subsitute (contains sucralose- hope that sfine as We dont get splenda here in India)

Breakfast :
2 egg whites hard boiled /omlette
+ stir fried red, greeb, yello peppers and musrooms

Snax
Cut up cucumber with 1 Tbs of hummus or Bean sprouts

Lunch (quantity not limited as I feel hungry due to BF)
Lentils - 1 and 1/2 cup
+ Green salad with lettuce, baby tomatoes, cucumber, sometimes add some black olives, sometimes garbanzo beans
+ SomE other cooked veges - like french beans, okra, cauliflower, cabbage any one

Snax
Cut up cucumber with 1 Tbs of hummus or Bean sprouts or 10-15 nuts
1 cup Tea with 1/2 cup 99.5% Fat Free milk and Sugar subsitute (contains sucralose- hope that sfine as We dont get splenda here in India)

Dinner
Lentils - 1 and 1/2 cup
+ Green salad with lettuce, baby tomatoes, cucumber, sometimes add some black olives, sometimes garbanzo beans
+ Some other cooked veges like french beans, okra, cauliflower, cabbage any one
+ 1 cup of 99.5% Fat free yogurt

I dont take any cheese. No non-veg. Should I be limiting my lentils/legumes and vegetables quantities? Does my menu look ok? Should I include/exclude anything? Just a note here that last time I did SBD i ate chicken during P1. Could that be the difference?

I am also trying to add some workout in my schedule. I have been doing (not regularly though) about 30 mins of brisk walk with some light weight training.

What am I doing wrong? Why am I not loosing any weight? I know you all can help me.

Thanks
Shweta

Thanks for quick response Cathy.
And it is great that you are visiting India. Which part of India? I am sure you are going to enjoy this trip.
As for SBD, I started with P1 as I am planning to wean my son very soon so I though this may be a good start. Anyway, My supply is not affected and he is also on dairy and solids. Do you still think that I should immediately start P2?
Also I will cut down on legumes. But then what is the alternate source of protein for vegetarians to go on till next meal? I am sure without that protein, I am going to be hungry very soon?
Any more advice would be great.

Thanks
Shweta

I just wanted to tell you that I am also bfing, my toddler, and I have been on P1 since Monday. It doesn't seem to be affecting my production and I be sure to get in 3 servings of dairy. She needs to be weaned, so I was thinking if it DID affect my production, it wouldn't really be a big deal! She is easily on all table foods and snacks, etc...it's more of a comfort thing for her. HTH!

It's the fact that your body is being stripped of nutrients to make the milk that is the concern with older breastfed babies.
