Hi everyone,

I'm at day 5 today and beginning to get a little board w/the P1 foods!! I think that especially became the case when I weighed myself this morning & saw that I was up 1 lb (I had been down 3 lb). I'm really tired today too...

My friend (who's also on day 5 of P1) has assured me that this is all normal & not to give up b/c it's all worth it in the end etc. etc. (She had follwed the plan before & has been through P1 once). I know that it's silly to go off the deep end over 1 lb, and that it's probably just my body adjusting (and it's only Day 5), but it IS a little frustrating b/c I haven't cheated AT ALL!! And I've never been able to accomplish that!

Oh well, just venting--I'll be fine & I'm not giving up, but I wish I was a little closer to the end of P1 today!! :)

Do yourself a favor and stop weighing yourself...really, this ruined me a few weeks ago! I started phase 1 and weighed myself, then after a week of working out and being "good" on phase 1 I weighed myself again and the scale didn't move! Before then I felt great! But that silly number on the scale discouraged me so much, I gave up! But BEFORE then I physically felt better, I was feeling and starting to see the results of phase 1, but b/c of the number on the scale I lost hope...so this time I'm in day 5 of phase 1 no scales, not even at the beginning! I'm going by how my clothes feel, by my energy levels, my appetite, cravings, etc...there are so MANY more benefits and ways to determine success on SBD please don't let the scale be the only way you determine success!

Hang in there phase 1 gets better (I've done it before) and you can too!!!

Hugs!
Melissa

Hey guys--Thanks for your support!! I am over my complaining...I think I just needed to vent I guess--thanks for listening! And Melissa, I think you're right about the scale. I had a feeling I should wait to weigh in (b/c I knew of the potential psychological effects!:) ), but I did it ANYWAY!!!!!!!! Bad move...oh well, I think I am going to have to find a way to weigh in no more than 1x per week. I don't think I'm ready to give up the scale forever!

I'm good--I'm on track!! No giving up here!
Thanks,
~Christy

There are some really good cookbooks that specialize in low-carb menus that can be easily adjusted for Phase I. And SBD has a couple fo cookbooks that have meals for the various phases. I noticed when I laid out my menu for the first two weeks that a lot of the recipes have the same ingredients in different amounts, but there is a lot of stuff on the approved list that isn't used - try to mix it up a bit.

My problem is I hate seafood - fish of any kind turns my stomache. So I'm substituting chicken in some of the fish recipes, which seems to work out well.

And, if you can't throw away the scale (I understand that!), at least hide it. I keep mine out of the way, out of the bathroom, so I don't see it all the time. That way, I have to go get it to weigh myself, and I'm less tempted to do so every day. Otherwise I'm weighing myself every time I go to the bathroom!

HI Christy!!
I feel the same way! I am down 5 lbs, but that seemed frustrating to me today...my personal trainer--who got me INTO this diet, lost 20 lbs on Phase 1, so I was feeling like I wasn't doing as good of a job as she was with only losing 5. So, I DID give in a little today. I went to the grocery store, HUNGRY, and had a peppermint patty. And those damn marshmallows that my dd keeps eating, I had a few more of those too! BAD, I KNOW. I am having a really hard time with willpower with the sugar aspect, bread and other carbs, I am okay with.

Anyway, I said all that to say, I feel your pain! I am NOW back on track too, and I agree about trying new varieties on your foods. Some of the snacks I enjoy are peanuts, cashews, diced cucumbers and peppers with hummus, string cheese, the flavored laughing cow lite cheese is pretty good...I don't know, just a few suggestions for snacks! Let me know if you need any specific recipes (dinner, lunch, etc) b/c I have the SBD in 30 minutes or less cookbook. I'd be happy to share.

We can get through this....I think! LOL

Hey--thanks for the help everyone!! Breakfast is probably the most challanging meal for me since I don't like much breakfast food (I would usually eat toast or something like that)BUT..........I made it through the 1st week!!!!!!!!!!!!!YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! No cheating WHATSOEVER (not even a BITE of ANYTHING!)!!! And I am down 5lbs!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I've made it through the hardest part and I think this week will be A LOT easier to get through (I certainly have some motivation now seeing some results!!). Thanks to everyone here--I really think checking in here every day makes a difference for me (and hearing that everyone else is going through similar struggles! And of course I'm very lucky that my husband (down 7lbs too) and my best friend are doing it right along w/me.

Let's all have a great week ladies!!! :)
