Just started sbd yesterday, on day 2 today. Ok so far. Just got a couple questions if someone could help me out with them.

1.) Will birth control pills effect my weight loss at all?

2.) What can hummus be used with or put on?

3.) any tips or recipes would be appreciated.

Also wanted to say hi to everyone else! I'm so glad i can talk to others.

Hi!! I've been doing this for a week now (yay-one more week to go!!), so I'll try ND answer your questions.

1.) Will birth control pills effect my weight loss at all?
Did you just start the pill? Or have you been on it awhile? I know that when I first started the pill, I gained a little weight. But I've been on it for years now, and it doesn't affect my weight loss at all.

2.) What can hummus be used with or put on?
Veggies!! It's good on celery, and cucumber slices. O think someoen here metioned red peppers. Be creative, and you'll find something. For when you get to phase 2, it's really good on wheat thins. And pita bread.

3.) any tips or recipes would be appreciated.
Don't give up!! The first couple of days may be tough, you'll miss foods, but remember, it's worth it. The first two weeks seem like forever, but they will end. Eventually. Also, try and mix up what you eat, so you don't get bored. Good luck!!

Here's the official answer on weight loss and birth control pills:


The birth control pill does contain hormones. This can have an effect on your weight. This effect is individual, and some women do not experience weight gain, while others may. However, you should be able to lose weight while on the pill. Birth control pills today are generally lower doses of hormones and don't have the same effect on weight that they used to. If you begin to experience weight stall you may want to discuss this with your physician.

Rachel: 1) Get in 2 cups of milk/nonfat yogurt per day.

Rachel: 2) Eat 4.5 cups of veggies.

Rachel: 3) Include some type of daily activity in your plan. This doesn't have to mean spending hours in the gym. Even just adding a few extra steps to your day is a step in the right direction.

Rachel: 4) Watch your intake of cheese and nuts. It is easy to overindulge on these foods.

hi there. Thanxs for responding to my questons. On day 4 now of phase1 and im doing pretty good. With the birth control pill, I had a baby 7 weeks ago and went to my doctor for my 6 week pp apt, and she gave me a rx for the pill. So she said to start on sunday. I was on the pill before i was pregnant, so this will be the first time started back on it. That was why i was wandering if it will stall my weight loss. I love hummus, it is good on veggies. How are u doing on the diet? How much weight loss so far? I do go for walks everyday. When winter comes i have a Tony Little Gazelle to work on. Lets keep eachother posted on our progress.
