Weird Question: Should I do the phase 1 leg of the diet longer than two weeks because I am trying to lose more than the ideal weight. I'm 5'5, 252 lbs. I do not have diabetes, heart disease, or high blood pressure. I want to lose weight before I get what everyone else and has and for a very superficial reason: I am tired of wearing a size 14/16 - 18/20 (on top)- yes I am very apple shaped and round. I would love to lose bewteen 100 - 120 lbs, I don't know if that would look scary on me but I been fat all my life, I mean heavy and this is my heaviest, so I don't know if I would have saggy face or look sick. What do you all think?

Hi. There is no benefit to staying on phase 1 for more than 2 weeks. Phase 1 is designed to eliminate cravings for bad carbs and to learn the plan. phase 2 is actually the real weight loss phase where you introduce fruits and whole grains - complex carbs that are essential for good health.

However, if you have a large amount of weight to lose (100+ lbs.), then you can stay in phase 1 for up to one month. Remember though that the purpose of phase 1 isn't rapid weight loos, but to normalize blood sugar and get rid of cravings.
