Craving Protein?

Hi all,
I've been back on the Beach for a little over a week and so far I am doing very well. I did lowcarbing for about 4 years and did well on it (30 pounds gone) but wasn't able to find a good maintenance type of plan. I managed to maintain most of my weight during the past year, partly because I became a vegetarian and tried veganism for a while (didn't work - still not keen on eggs but love that dairy :D). Anyway, I started looking into SBD again and thought it would be a great maintenance plan for a vegetarian. I'm going through all the phases to get my body out of the diet/binge mode and get the cravings for junk food out, though I'm not concentrating on weight loss (but I lost 3 pounds this week, which is nice...)
Anyway, I found since getting back to SBD that I am craving the protein and not the carbs. This might be due to the fact that although I wasn't eating a lot of "bad" carbs before, I was eating quite a bit of fruit and not much protein (about 40 grams a day). Now I'm eating about 80-90 and I'm still finding that I want to add some for snacks (all lean protein, of course...)
Someone suggested it might be stress, as I've just started a PhD program at a new place and it is not going so well for me so I'm stressed out.
I'm just wondering if that's normal when you begin a plan like SBD.

I would suggest moving on to phase 2. If you were on a low carb plan before and can handle the cravings, there's no reason why you should limit yourself to phase 1 foods.
Protein is not limited on SB. It's suggested that you start a meal with a 3oz. serving, but if you need more you can have it. Be sure though that you are first getting all the other required foods in - 4.5 cups of veggies and 2 cups of dairy each day.

Hi Tam,
Welcome!
Thank you so much for the welcome, Cathy. And Karen, thanks for the links - they are great!
I'm doing fine and just moved on to Phase 2 so it's nice to have some fruit and whole grains again :D.
