Is anyone having any problems with constipation in phaseI? I can't remember if this is normal, I just started on it again.

TIA

Here's some info from Cathy regarding constipation:

The constipation can be from too little fiber or too much fiber. If you are taking a fiber supplement you may want to discontinue its use. This may lead to consuming too much fiber and therefore constipation. If you are eating a great deal more high fiber vegetables than previously this can also lead to constipation. You may want to slowly increase your intake to allow time for your gastrointestinal tract to adjust.

Often with constipation fluids need to be increased. This is especially true for a high fiber food intake. The water will bind with the stool to help soften the mass and allow for easier passage. Please try to consume at least 2-3 liters of water each day.

Another factor with constipation is physical activity. The gastrointestinal tract is one large muscle. Usually some activity in your day can help stimulate this muscle and move the stool through your system. Please try to add a daily walk to your routine to help.

If you continue to have difficulty please try moving to Phase 2. The addition of whole grain starches and especially fruit is extremely helpful.

If you do not find relief with any of these options please contact your physician. They will be the best person to help you.

I hope you feel better soon.
