I just started the Phase I of the SBD today! We had chili last night for dinner and had leftovers. Is this ok to eat in Phase I? I was thinking of having some for lunch. It has drained ground beef, a variety of canned beans, onions and chili seasoning mix. I would add a sprinkle of cheese and a little bit of sourcream.

Thanks,

Dana

Hi Dana!

Chili is fine in phase 1, however until you get to phase 2 you should try to avoid pre-packaged seasoning mixes because they usually contain some form of sugar and modified food starch which can cause cravings.

Thanks! We used the McCormick seasoning mix.
The ingredients and nutrition info is listed as:

Ingredients
CHILI PEPPER AND OTHER SPICES, ENRICHED WHEAT FLOUR (NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, AND FOLIC ACID), ONION, SALT, AND GARLIC.

Nutritional Information
Amount Per Serving : 1 1/3 tbsp. dry mix (9g)(Seasons 1 cup chili)
Calories: 30
Fat: 0.5 g
Cholesterol: 0 mg
Sodium: 310 mg
Carbohydrates: 5 g
Protein: 1 g

I really like it so let me know if it seems to be ok for Phase 1 or not. If not, how else would I season chili?

Hi,

It wouldn't be terrible if you ate this.
