I've had a problem with this phase because I can't eat eggs, so I don't know what can I
have for breakfast instead that is not meat. I've tried with sausages, but I would really
like to have something more natural for braekfast, cause I used to eat fruit at this time of
the day. So please help me and let me know what can I do.

Hi nhershey,
I get bored with eggs too. I keep powdered soy protein at the office and home. I pop it in a blender with a diet citrus soda (waist wathcers because it is also sodium free) and a few ice cubes. You could pop in some plain yogurt too. The citrus flavor is nice in the morning and it comes out like a smoothie.

It makes a nice break from eggs.

Here's the latest official word from the South Beach nutritionist regarding protein powders:

Hello,

Protein powders can be used but they do not supply all the nutrients found in whole foods. We would much rather that our members choose whole, real foods rather than protein powders. However, you may use them if you wish. I do have to caution you that heaping on tablespoons of protein powder can lead to weight gain. The South Beach Diet meal plan includes adequate amounts of protein. In healthy individuals adding large amounts of protein to the diet does not provide a benefit. A balanced meal plan based on whole foods is always the best choice.

Take a look through this Dairy thread for some great shake ideas without any need to add protein powder:

Hi, I just went through the same thing and even sent a similar message on Monday. I was so frustrated with my Phase 1 breakfasts. I got the same advice link you did, followed it, and I've been a lot happier since then. I've had the ricotta creme for breakfast and loved it. Another day I had low-cal ham wrapped around a light cheese stick with a glass of vegetable juice. Also, you might want to try tofu scramble if you eat tofu, it's a great substitute for eggs. Fantastic Foods (among others I can't remember) makes a mix that you combine with the tofu to make the scramble. It's very nourishing. Good luck!
