so as fun as today is going to be, i'm really dreading all the decisions I'm going to have to make.

I have a lunch today with my colleagues so I'm pretty sure I can be somewhat good and have some sort of salad but it's for tonight that I'm really worried. We are going to dinner with my husband's colleagues and are finally getting to go to this little Indian restaurant that we've always wanted to try out....

wah!!!

any ideas of what might come close to being good for me there?

I'm not that familiar with Indian food, but isn't Tandoori chicken supposed to be amazing? I understand it is simply coated in plain yogurt and spices and then cooked in a clay oven.

Here's some info from the official South Beach website about Indian food:

In general, Indian food is a fine choice for South Beach Dieters since the cuisine is based on the right carbs, such as chickpeas and lentils, and nutrient-rich vegetables like spinach and eggplant. However, some Indian dishes are cooked using bad fats, and in combination with starchy carbs like white potatoes and rice.

If you eat out, most Indian restaurants provide several tasty choices. Try Mulligatawny soup, dals (legume dishes-choose those without cream), chana (chickpea curry), kachumbars (vegetable salads), raitas (salads with a tart yogurt dressing), or dishes described on the menu as masala (a combination of spices with sauteed tomatoes and onions) or tandoori (seasoned meat, poultry, or fish roasted in a clay oven). Stay away from samosas (deep-fried pastry filled with vegetables or meat); puri (a puffy, deep-fried bread); and entrees described as biryani, malai, or korma, which are heavy on the oil and cream.

OHHHH!! I love Indian food and make it a lot. Like the pp said, stay away from the the bread, rice and chutney and you should be okay! They also do a lot w/ potaoes so just stay away from that also. The dals are beans which are good for you, chicken would be good. Like a curry or chili chicken. Oh, I'm jealous. Enjoy and have fun!! Don't think about what you can't eat, think of all the stuff that you can. When I make it at home, I always eat it w/ ff yogurt. But if I eat it out...(which is rare), I still have to have it with yogurt, because of the spices. But since it is usually a very special treat to eat it out, I treat it as such and really enjoy it!!
