hi all...
I posted a few weeks ago about rather or not i should start this journey before Xmas and I decided to wait. My official start day is January 2nd. I have noticed that I have been OVER eatting to compensate for the start day approaching.. :(
Im getting nervous..excited and very scared... last time I tried this on day three I started crying and downed a Mt dew...
Any helpful anything...would be great...I already have the shopping list etc..Im scared that maybe I should join the South Beach web site for support and recipes... maybe I should plan out my meals for the 14 days and start preparing food...I need to get thru this...i want to succeed.

Congrats on making the decision to start SBD! DH and I started last February right after the Super Bowl (that was our last big hurrah), and it's been GREAT! I have lost about 40 lbs and have been at my goal weight since late summer. DH has lost about 20, and is also at his goal weight. We continue to eat mostly per the SBD rules, with a few more treats now and then. But it works for us. We never joined the official website. I have gotten tons of good recipes and other info here, so I never felt the need. The CLs here are *GREAT*, and Cathy posts info from the website quite often.

Good luck and welcome! Happy New Year!

Heather,

I too have decided that Jan. 2 is the starting point for me. I did SBD last year and lost 50 lbs. I have kept most of it off except for in the last 2 months or so I have put back on about 10 lbs (someone is always bringing snacks in to work). The SBD worked VERY well for me & I was never hungry. Even in the first 2 weeks, which I thought would be difficult, I didn't have any cravings. I am a sugar/starch-aholic so I thought cutting all of that out those first 2 weeks would be extremely hard but, to my surprise it was not. I have read many posts here and the people seem to be very supportive and encouraging. I look forward to a new healthier year and making new friends here to help & encourage along the way. I have decided that this IS going to be a lifestyle change for me. The last year has brought about alot of ups & downs in my life, so the new year is something I am really looking forward to. If we all stick together and help & encourage each other we can reach our goal.

Good luck to you & everyone!!

Hi Heather,

Don't be nervous...you CAN do this! Preparing is key! Have some yummy meals and snacks planned out - there are so many great recipes that you never need to feel deprived. Go shopping and don't forget snacks - you MUST eat 3 snacks each day while on phase 1 AND having them ready to go will help you in weak moments.

Also, come visit us EVERDAY - you'll be surprised at how helpful it is just signing on, reading and posting when you need to.

Good luck!!!!

I am also starting the SB diet tomorrow morning. I'm so tired of all the holiday junk food. Somthing that doesn't have plastic and sugar sounds really good! Good luck everyone.
