Once again I am trying out the South Beach Diet. I have the original book from when I started it about 3 years + ago. I noticed on various websites there have been some changes to the diet. Is this true? Also I noticed that each day for breakfast phase I says vegetable juice or tomator juice. What is the alternate beverage? I cannot drink either of those.

I believe the tomato juice is just a suggestion and another way to sneak in a serving of vegetables -- it's not a requirement. If you like orange juice in the morning, I highly recommend Crystal Light's orange flavor, it's yummy and legal.
As far as changes to South Beach, the biggest one I've heard is that you are now encouraged to include 1-2 cups of dairy during Phase 1 and 2-3 cups of dairy during Phase 2. By "dairy", they mean skim milk, nonfat plain yogurt, but cheese is not counted as a dairy.
The basics once you get into Phase 2 are:
* eat 4 1/2 c. of veggies every day, which should include 1/2 c. beans
* eat 2-3 c. dairy
* eat 2-3 servings of fruit
* eat lean protein
* be sure to include 2-3 snacks throughout the day
* include regular exercise and water as part of the plan
