My suggestion is that if you are having such a bad reaction (as I did) is to not worry about the portion limitations on the protein rich approved phase 1 foods while you are on phase 1. If you need more than 15 nuts then have more than 15 nuts (nuts were huge for me at this phase). If you need two pieces of chicken instead of 1 to feel full then go for it.
THis is what I did since phase 1 was more about me detoxing than worrying about portion sizes. As long as what I was eating did not have sugar and I did not go over my dairy/bean (more carb rich) limits I was happy!! It did not help the physical withdrawl (headache etc) but at least I did not feel hungry too!
Good luck,
LIsa.
Lisa has good advice. Personally I never did Phase 1, so I can't compare symptoms, but I do know that if I'm ever feeling bad, it's usually because I haven't eaten enough. My way of staying on top of SB is to not think of it as a "diet" (cause then you think you're supposed to starve yourself...) as much as a "way of eating" or "WOE" (cause then you feel like you can do it for life.)
Here are a few Phase 1 snack ideas I've gathered from others:
Stalks of celery hearts stuffed with light cream cheese, Laughing Cow Light swiss cheese spread, SBD/Kraft swiss spread, or hummus.
1 cup of nonfat, plain yogurt with your favorite sweetener stirred in, and flavored extracts of your choice.
Lean lunchmeat slices (no sugar added) such as smoked ham, turkey or chicken, rolled up with a part-skim mozzarella stick.
A cup of homemade chili.
A variety of cut up raw veggies like broccoli florets, slices of cucumber, grape tomatoes, baby carrot sticks, etc. dipped in light ranch dressing. Or, dipped in hummus.
A small handful of nuts (peanuts, cashews, etc).
A romaine lettuce leaf "wrap" - Inside one of these large lettuce leaves, roll in lean lunchmeat, cheese, turkey bacon, or other fave things like sliced roasted red pepper, mustard, etc.
A cup or two of leftover cooked veggies.
Nuke a cheese stick until melty (either soft or completely melted, up to you). Top w/spag. sauce. Not as great at veggies since little fiber but it feels like a "cheat" to me.
Slice tomatoes & sprinkle w/ basalmic vinegar or italian-esque dressing. Top w/moz &/or provolone cheese. Broil until cheese is bubbly & lightly browned. Sometimes I broil the tomatoes a few minutes to warm if they have been in fridge and then add the cheese & finish broiling.
Good luck!

p.s. what also helps me with a headache is having something with caffeine, either a cup of coffee or tea or a diet Dr. Pepper. You can't have tons of these, obviously, but sometimes just a cup really helps.

I totally know what you are feeling. My detox last year was awful. You will be feeling better soon. I agree with the pp that you need to be eating more of P1 foods. Nuts, drink a glass of skim milk, veggi's, ham rolled up with some cheese. Cottage cheese. Have a sf fudgesicle and make sure you are drinking LOTS of water. Another thing that helped was taking metamucil before meals. I never felt hungry after I started that. Good Luck!!

Im totally running to shaws for hummas..
thanks
IM SO HUNRGY! Weighed myself today..160..not looking forward to another day of this..
Ahhg..
Hi there,
Vanilla yogurt and all natural peanut butter were great for me on phase 1. Also, the turkey roll ups are good. Also, try sugar free fudgesicles. They are really good. I'm a VERY picky eater so I know how difficult P1 can be.
By the way, I hope you are chugging a diet mt. dew.

Nope ..no MT dews...Im being so good!
Thanks for your suggestions.
Hey, I'm on day 2 also!
I haven't felt any jitters yet though, although I'm pretty sure I will. I am a sugar addict.
