anyone *not* lose weight on phase 1?

Has anyone not lost weight in phase 1 and still had success in the long run? I was doing weight watchers previous to this (for years and years I followed the program actually and very successfully) and have only gained this 20lbs since quitting smoking in August and found that I couldn't work the weight watchers program...I was seriously over snacking so thought this plan might be a better one for me. I have been making good choices, I'm going to try to watch it on the peanuts-I have been having a extra handful of those and I know that those calories add up fast...I'm just going to be so bummed if I don't show a loss this week, which ends on tuesday morning for me.

I do know how frustrating it is to be eating really well and not lose anything. If you are unsure....you can post a menu of what you've been eating and have the cl's or anyone take a look at it. I know that sometimes I would eat something I thought was ok and then find out later that it wasn't what I should be eating or it was too much of something. I usually found out from reading other people's post. Another reason for not losing weight is you might not be eating enough. If you don't eat enough, your body will think it's in starvation mode and will horde the little amounts you do eat. The other reason I can think of is if your monthly is soon to arrive. I know that with me, I won't lose anything that week or a few day s before. I will actually gain a few lbs until it's over with. hth

(day 8)..I dont feel any lighter.. Good Luck!
The first time I did South Beach (a handful of years ago), I lost about 3 lb., maybe less, on Phase I. I then lost about 25 lb. (almost to goal) on Phase II -- but then I lost my grip and started eating a lot of garbage again. So yes, you can show little loss on Phase I and still do fine in the long run. Phase I isn't really a "weight loss" phase, it's just to kill cravings so that you can succeed in Phase II, the 'real' weight loss phase. Don't be too discouraged, whatever your Phase I results are. As long as you're killing the cravings, you're doing what you're supposed to. Hang on for Phase II to see real weight loss. :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement Angelle, I was really feeling down about this esp after having such a tiny loss the first week, I'm going to tweak what I did last week and hope for a better week two and if not just be happy to be entering phase 2 lol.
That's the attitude, Steph! :) It just take time, and some people lose more water than others in the first weeks. The real long-term result is what you're interested in, right? :) We're both aiming for just about the same amount of loss, it looks like. We can encourage each other as we go through Phase II to our goals -- and we'll get there, as long as we don't get discouraged or demand immediate results. Everyone's body is different, so please don't compare your first week results to anyone else's. We can do this. :)
