New to SB and not sure

Hi I am new to the SBD. I started yesterday and have read a lot about it before. I have read that headaches are normal the first couple of days and that drinking lots of water will help. Yesterday i had V8 juice for breakfast with cottage cheese (non-fat) then for lunch I had a small grilled chicken breast on spinach with a vinageret dressing(just a tiny tiny bit) it isn't my favorite but didn't want to use ranch, for a snack before lunch I had string cheese (part skim) and then I had celery as a snack after lunch. I had another piece of grilled chicken and steamed broccoli for dinner with 2 slices of non-fat american cheese and a cup of milk. I had a sugar free fudgecical (don't know how to spell it sorry) for a snack later that night. I drank 8 bottles of water and still had a huge headache.

I slept really good last night though which I haven't done for a long time. Then this morning I had more V8 juice and spinach quiche from the receipe in the book and had 2 of those. I had string cheese for a snack and for lunch I am having the south beach tuna salad and lots of water.

Does this sound okay or is there something I need to change. I read a thread that said cheese was not suppose to be eaten very much but I thought you could eat it all you wanted in phase 1 so I don't know what is true now. I want to do this I have about 20 lbs to get rid of.

Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance.

Hiyya again :)

I know I seriously struggled with dairy the first week but I've gotten more creative this week and got out the blender. I made the SB cocoa into a smoothie...I warmed the milk for about a minute added 2 tbls of cocoa powder and a packet of splenda and tossed it all in the blender with some ice and YUM. I've also taken to doing it with cold coffee 1/2 cup of milk, splenda and ice but if I recall you don't drink coffee so that one wouldn't be good, sorry I remembered that as I was typing :) The SF syrups are great if you can find them, I found them at T.J Maxx and Sams club.

Hi Luly!!!

I got the Sargento brand Part-skim ricotta. I'd love to know if there is a better brand out there I should look for!!!

The smoothie sounds great!!! I tried to fix a bit of chocolate milk last night...found out quick that cold milk and cocoa powder don't mix well...LOL!!! Will warm it up a bit if I try it again tonight...or may just get a SF fudgesicle. My only craving is a strong need for chocolate in the evenings. Even tho the chocolate milk didn't work out well last night, it still conquered that need for something chocolate. Sounds like I need to break out the blender for a while!!!

Thanks for the ideas...I may try to combine some of the ricotta with cottage cheese to see if the consistency is better. This Sargento ricotta that I have is just so gritty that even if it tastes ok, I just can't get past the feel, you know??? May just let hubby have all the ricotta cheese...LOL!!!

I do drink coffee also, but only 1 double cup in the mornings. I have trouble getting to sleep at night, so I try not to drink any caffeine after about 11am...the coffee smoothie does sound good, tho!!!

about the cocoa and cold milk - I put the cocoa powder and splenda in a glass measuring cup, add just enough very hot water to get it wet (run the tap for awhile) and then add the cold milk. Then I heat by nuking.

I am glad it is normal. My headache finally went away tonight but I still don't feel normal but I guess I have a lot to undo since I spent all that time doing it. I start day 3 tomorrow so I hope I will be feeling back to normal. Good for you on your day 10!

Sounds like we started P1 on the same day!!!

So glad that your headache has eased off. I only had a headache the very first day, thank goodness. I have, however, felt a bit more tired lately and not really wanting to do much. I'm sure that will pass, tho. If nothing else, hubby and I are staying busy in the kitchen after dinner each night, fixing lunch and snacks for the next day. I think we're falling into a routine now and it doesn't seem as hard as it was just a few days ago.

Anyway, I wish you much success in your weight loss and healthy living!!!

Yea I am glad my headaches went away. Still waiting to feel totally normal again but I have slept better since I started the diet. Your energy should change from what I read. I have a lot more than I did so that is really nice but I don't really know what is normal yet for me but it is getting easier I agree.

Good luck to you with your successes
