Hi everyone!
I just 'found' your board yesterday and I'm preparing to start Phase 1 of SB on Monday! Woo Hoo!!
I am just wondering about snacks: I try to avoid all dairy and all nuts, as they bother my stomach. Many of the snack ideas seem to incorporate yogurt or cheese or nuts..
Will I be stuck eating veggies and hummous or meat and veggies as snack 2x per day? I can't envisage eating either of those mid-morning! ; )
Thank you for all of your help!
ps: a little history if you are interested: I was on ivillage in 2000 on the 'shape up board with jonny bowden' and started on my weight loss journey after the birth of my 4th child. I slipped and slid a bit, but between 2001 and 2002, I put my mind to it and lost 125 pounds, which I kept off until I started weight training again last year. I'm now 20 pounds heavier than I want to be (no, it's not all muscle) and I would like to get even lower than I was at my lightest. So here I am. My goal: 10 pounds would make me smile, 20 would make me laugh and 30 would make me dance! : )
talk to you soon,
t

Hi t, and welcome to our board~ I'm glad you found us!
Although nuts and cheese are great snack ideas, they are not an essential part of this diet. Dairy, however, is important as it actually aids the weight loss process and provides nutrients our bodies need.
Thanks, Karen.
Unfortunately, I'm not lactose intolerant, I'm actually intolerant of the protein in all dairy...so the lactaid free stuff still hurts my stomach...but enough complaining! I will add some in periodically, I just can't eat it every day!
Thank you for all of your help and ideas! ; )
