Dh came home from work today with a can of General Foods International Sugar Free Suisse Mocha Coffee Mix. Apparently one of his students gave it to him as a Christmas gift and he is just now getting around to bringing it home...makes me wonder what else he has in his office! LOL!

Is this ok to drink? This is the run-down on it:

Calories 30

Total fat 2g

Sat fat 2g

Trans fat 0g

Total carbs 2g

Sugars 0g

Protein 0g

TIA!

When we read food labels, the most important part is the ingredient list. I bet that this product contains hydrogenated fats that would make it not acceptable for SBD. Can you post the ingredient list so we can let you know for sure?

Just copied and paste from their site, so excuse the all caps...

Ingredients: SUGAR, NONDAIRY CREAMER (PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED COCONUT OIL, SODIUM CASEINATE, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES, SODIUM STEAROYL LACTYLATE, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR), MALTODEXTRIN, INSTANT COFFEE, COCOA (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, NONFAT MILK, LACTOSE, SODIUM CITRATE, ASPARTAME AND ACESULFAME POTASSIUM (SWEETENERS).

And as I can already see, there is partially hydrogenated coconut oil *ACK* :o(

Yup - that and the first ingredient is sugar. Sorry - give it to a neighbor!

Actually I copied and pasted the wrong ingredients...oops!

But even so, the correct ingredients list shows non-dairy creamer containing part. hydro. coconut oils and corn syrup solids as the #1 ingredient, although they do have an astrix that notes that it only adds a negligible amount of sugar...

So, I am going to assume it is still a no-no.

Your assumption is correct.
