Hey Everyone! I have been lurking for the past 2 days. I started the South Beach diet for the first time Monday. I am 5'5 and weighed in at 134.5 and i want to drop to around 125. I am trying the program for the first time with my mom, so hopefully we can motivate each other. I do not see any changes in my body yet unfortunately. I have a funny schedule so it is difficult for me to have 3 full meals plus snacks, so I have been eating deli meat and cheese at random points in the day. Also, I am going to the beach in just under 3 weeks and I'd love to jump start this weight loss for that. Has anybody tried following phase 1 rules AND counting calories for faster results? Please let me know if you have any suggestions! thanks :)

Have you read the Getting Started thread yet? For me, phase 1 really flattened my tummy and helped me lose bodyfat. Also, I think if you do some weightlifting you will see faster results. Plus, lift weights before you go to the beach because your muscles swell up and you will look more toned!
Best of luck and welcome!!!

Hi and welcome! If it's only been 2 days, you really shouldn't expect to see results that quickly. As you know we don't count calories on SBD, but following the Phase 1 eating plan will not be high in calories. Just be sure to limit some of the more calorie dense foods like cheese, nuts and oils. In Phase 1 it is important that you eat regularly throughout the day. So the fact that you are eating cold cuts (as long as they are lean meats and low fat cheeses), you're on the right track.
Good luck to you and your mom and let us know if you have any questions!!
Hi
Hey Peachy,
I am the same height as you and have the same goal. I am currently about 130 lbs and I've been on the beach for about a year and a half. I have reached my goal and then regained. I don't think couting calories is productive and it's nearly impossible to do it accurately unless you are only eating packaged foods with calorie counts or measure everything. I would just suggest doing Phase I without counting calories and see how much you can lose!

P.S. I'm also a lawyer!
