Well, after reading some of the other new people's posts who are also starting this diet it almost made me wonder if this is the diet for me. I wish I only had 10 lbs to lose. I'm happy and excited for everyone who wishes to lose weight though and can do it (in a healthful way of course). Today is big for me. I've seriously decided this is the time to lose weight. Not think to myself, "oh, maybe i'll start tomorrow or the next day. Maybe Monday instead." So wish me luck on starting! I am 5'6" and my current weight is 220. That's embarassing for me to say, though I know i'm the one who did that to me. For years my weight fluctuated a few pounds around 155, then I had a child and then got out of the military and then had 2 more children. I also used not being in the army anymore as an excuse to eat junk and sit on my butt not doing anything because I didn't have to. So, here I am now wanting to just get healthy again, not even looking for skinny.

I like all sorts of foods which is why I am choosing this diet. I know I can do the first 2 weeks, i've started before and succeeded on the first 2 weeks. It's after then that gets hard. My husband and kids don't like most of what I can make on this diet. Anyone have any suggestions for how I can make meals they'll like or what I can add that will make them like it more?

Thanks and good luck to everyone starting! Oh yeah, my goal weight is 160 right now but i'll be ecstatic when I get below 200 again. :)

Hi and welcome! I'm glad you decided to join us!

We have lots of great information and tips here that will help you stay on track. Many of us here have families and we have found ways to follow this WOE while keeping everyone happy. We've even found that our families start to eat healthier too. My kids no longer say "ew" when I serve them brown rice or whole wheat pasta and they both eat more fruit and veggies then they ever did before. In fact, my 13 yo DD's new favorite vegetable is.......bok choy!! She even asks me to make it!!

You'll find lots of support here too. So, stick with us and we'll get you going!

Good luck!!

Welcome to the board and a new WOE! It doesn't matter how many pounds you have to lose, everyone is very supportive here. Search the recipe section for a variety. I'm sure you will find some things that your family will love.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. It's nice to have support from other women who understand what's going on, not just physically but emotionally.

Kimmie, I understand. I'm an emotional eater and bored snacker too. I also know about it's about the weight but not. High blood pressure and diabetes runs on my mom's side too and I was gestational diabetic with both my last pregnancies. Right now with where i'm at healthwise and being in my 30's now, i'm heading toward that road, not away from. I really believe that this is the path I need to be on to get away from the family trend. I'm going to be sure to check out any recipies on here and try them to see if my family will eat them.

Hi and welcome!

I totally understand what you mean - when I first started I felt like I couldn't relate at all to someone who only needed to lose 10 or 15lbs. I felt like they really had not idea what it felt like to be so over weight, so overwhelmed with the huge number to lose, etc. I would have been THRILLED to be their starting size, so I always felt like - geez, what are THEY complaining about: ;-)

But there ARE those of us here who have lost much more than 10lbs! When I first started our former-CL Maggie was my inspiration here as she had lost over 50lbs and I believe she has currently lost around 65lbs.

I've also lost well over 50lbs - 67lbs lost and maintained for over a year. You can read my story and see my Before and After pics from the links in my siggy.
