Staying on Phase I

Has anyone stayed on phase 1 to lose all their weight? Like what if you wanted to continue to lose weight faster than 1 to 2 lbs a week, could you stay on phase 1 until you've lost MOST of your weight and then switch to phase 2? Has anyone done this? Like say for instance you have 100 lbs to lose...losing 8 lbs in the first 2 weeks is only a dent...so couldn't those people potentially stay on phase 1 maybe until like within 30 lbs of their goal and THEN go to phase 2? Just wondered if anyone has done this before...

It's not recommended to stay on phase 1 longer than two weeks. There's really no benefit. Phase 1 is designed to rid yourself of cravings and detox from sugar and bad carbs. Phase 2 is the real weight loss phase. The only exception is if you are more than 100 pounds overweight. However, you still would not stay on phase 1 until all the weight is lost.

Phase 1: detox phase
Phase 2: weight loss phase
Phase 3: maintenance phase

Okay so I want to lose about 40 lbs...I am just starting phase 1 TODAY by the way...so say like I lose about 8 lbs in phase 1....that would leave 32 lbs left to lose...so would it REALLY take me 4 months or longer to do this? It seems like a long time for some reason...

Some here have experienced rapid weight loss of 8-12 pounds or so in phase 1. Keep in mind that everyone is different and many only lost a

Hi kyndra,

As others have said, staying on P1 longer than 2 weeks is not normally recommended. I had originally thought that I might stay on P1 longer than 2 weeks...but here's what happened with me that changed my mind. I had a really successful first week on P1. I lost 7 pounds..a pound each day. Then at the end of the second week of P1, I had lost only 1 pound. So, just a total of 8 pounds for P1. Still a real success, but needless to say, those pounds just didn't fall off at the same rate as the first week. From what I have read here on this message board, this is pretty typical. We would all love to lose that weight really fast, but I just don't think that will happen. So, after my 14 days of P1, I moved on to P2. And I've been averaging about 1 to 1 1/2 pounds loss each week since then. P2 really is alot easier to stick to than P1..and P1 was pretty easy for me. I like having the option of whole wheat breads and pastas and fruit everyday!!!

Good luck with whatever you choose to do, kyndra!!!

I thought the same as you did...that maybe a LONG P1 would be beneficial...

but...

I lost 6 pounds in week 1 and only .5 in week 2...

then I switched to Phase 2 and continued losing 2-3 pounds per week!

I'm not sure I will ever have 3 fruit and 3 grains per day, but the move into Phase 2 certainly did continue the weight loss and certainly better than the second week of P1!

good luck,

t
