Day 2 and all's well

Hi there! I'm new to the boards, so, much like chattycathy35, I'm going to introduce myself.
I'm Kate, a 21 year old student currently studying abroad in Cairo. Despite the fact that I was already overweight coming here, I had issues controlling my eating and gained about twenty-five pounds. Now I'm in an apartment with a kitchen (yay!) so things are already more under control than before. I'm playing Adelaide in AUC's production of Guys and Dolls in five weeks and started SBD to lose some weight before getting up on stage and...well, and stripping. One of the numbers involves removing our dresses to reveal this nightie thing. Oh goody. :) Another reason I'm doing it is because I'm a ballroom dancer back home and, at the weight I'm at right now, there's no way I'm ever going to fit into my costumes. I know SBD is about our health, but that's never inspired me before. Now, stripping in front of an Egyptian audience for eight shows...that's inspiration.
One of the pluses of being in Egypt is that produce is cheap and plentiful. I stocked up today on some gorgeous orange and yellow peppers, fresh zucchini, tomatos, cucumbers and mushrooms and cooked up a stir-fry for lunch tomorrow. I'm hoping that by flooding my diet with vegetables and following Phase 1 I'll manage to avoid the classic theatre trap of subsisting on Diet Coke, McDonald's and Snickers bars during Tech Week and the actual production. I'm on Day 2 of Phase 1 and, aside from a few wild cravings, all is well.
Just wanted to say hi! I'm excited to start seeing progress on my scale (which is in kilos, just to confuse matters) and to start feeling the effect of eating better.
