Hi everyone!
I'm gonna start SBD with al the positive thoughts in the world! But i need ur help to set my expectations right! first of all i am female 24 yrs, betwwen 5'6" or 7" and around 132 pounds.. i exercise regularly and im fit. however i am always on somesort of low calorie diet cuz i really gain weight in no time, and have difficulty losing it. and by difficulty i mean i could follow diets for months and lose 1 pound!!
i dont eat much rice or pasta anyway...ive done blood tests and i have low metabolism for a fact.
SO, do u guys have any insights abot SBD for me, should i super limit my portions or make sure not to eat too much veggies or anything!!
seriously any tip you say will be helpful!
thanx alot, all i want is to lose 5 pounds and keep them off!!
another question is, what if, for any unknown reason someone slepped during the diet and had 'a piece' of something not allowed, is all the effort gone!!?!
Thanks!!!

Hi & welcome!
What you need to do is rev up your metabolism.
Just curious . . .
What blood tests are there to detect "low metabolism?"

oh well! long story but since u asked!!
several doctors suspected i had something with the thyroid gland, so i had to do the tests. i checked it out and i realized i have most of the symptoms. however according to mainstream medecine, my results are fine , because the TSH is in the normal range and thats what they base their diagnosis on.. however my FT3, which is the hormone responsible for all body functions and metabolism, was in one test just above the limit and in another test slightly below.. So doctors told me : u have a low metabolism, live with it!
that's it!!
i have a question about caffeine, y is it a problem with SBD ? im used to drinking alot of tea!
Caffeine can trigger hunger in some people.
Hi Doreen,
Another member here (Catherine aka Divacat) also had some metabolic testing done.
Are you sure part of the reason your metabolism is slow isn't BECAUSE you are always on a "low-calorie" diet? I really screwed up my metabolism by not eating enough. Calories and food actually rev up or metabolism! Eating too little puts your body into starvation mode and can make you GAIN weight. Its a common misconception.
When I gained most of my weight I was eating about 1000 calories per day. I only really ate one meal and maybe one snack. As soon as I started EATING and nourishing my body, I started losing. During my weight loss phase I ate about 1600 calories per day and lost an average of 1.5lbs per week. Now on maintenace (maintained over 1 year) I eat close to 2000 calories a day (with five 1hr workouts per week).
At your height and weight your BMI is already 20.7 (19-24 is normal/healthy - your BMI happens to be the exact same as mine is now) I'm thinking that if you have been severely restricting calories when you are already at a healthy weight, that could really damage your metabolism. I wouldn't really focus on restricting calories and such at this point, but probably eat MORE and kick up the strength training. You can decrease your body SIZE and work with its shape and tone by building muscle.

hey!
well maybe that too!
actually i was just about to ask how do i make sure while on SBD that im not turning it into a lowcalorie diet again!
the thing is i used to be fat around the age of 10, and i lost 13kg during my teens, by diet and exercise, and not all at once.. so maybe i have a tendency to getting fat :S
but ok, i wanna make sure i eat enough but im just afraid u know..
this is what i think i will be eating more or less on SBD, feel free to guide me..
breakfast : 2 boiled eggs (cuz i have to take it to work)
snack : cottage cheese with some olives and cucumbers or lettuce
lunch: tuna salad (the whole can which is 170gr i think)
dinner: 1/4 chicken or around 200gr lean beef, and cookec veggies
snack: 1 fat free yogurt
during the day i also have aroud 1 cup of skimmed milk in my tea...
and 3 days i week i go the gym, 30 cardio (stepper or jogging) then strength training.
tell me what u think, thanx alot =>
Hi,
Just thought I'd try to help out with your mealplan. It looks like you might be a little light on the veggies. You need 4.5 cups per day (1/2 cup should come from the beans/legumes family). You may want to try some V8 - 1 cup can count toward your veggie requirement. V8 comes in individual serving cans that are easily transportable and would be a great addition to your hard boiled eggs.
Feel free to add more snacks to your meal plan too. Be sure to eat when you are hungry. Celery sticks and lf cheese or lf Laughing Cow cheese is a great snack - a good way to get more veggies and easy to bring to work.
Good luck and let us know if you need any more ideas!
