Starting Phase One Tomorrow... Tips?

Hey everyone. I am starting the South Beach Diet Phase One (again) tomorrow. I tried it once before with my mom and lost about 5lbs within the first week or two. However, every time I start a new regimen (SBD or otherwise), I always lose my motivation. I also know that I need to add some type of fitness plan into my regimen. My goal is probably to lose around 50lbs total, but to get into "fitness" shape...toned?!
Just a few questions out there for anyone who may have the answers. I have read the SBD book, but still have just a few little questions...
* Tips on staying motivated?
* Fitness strategies (I have a fitness Gym in my complex...just no one to show me how to work out safely on the machines without injuring myself)
* Additional recipes (especially those that are adaptable for very picky eaters)?
* How long can I stay in Phase One safely?
Also... any ideas on "Online Fitness Buddies"? I read about them online, but never have had any luck with actually setting anything up - kind of like a little support group you can connect with and bond with that have like-minded goals and are doing the same things you are doing to help you??
I know, I have so many questions for you all!!! Sorry!! =D
Thanks so much!! Wish me luck!!

Hi,
Welcome to the South Beach board!
There are lots of ways to stay motivated.
This might sound extreme, but DH (Aaron) and I went through the whole house and removed anything and everything that wasn't SBD friendly and put it in a huge rubbermaid tote and took it to the basement. Once we moved to Phase 2 a few of the items could come back out, but the rest we either gave away or kept some of the frozen stuff in the deep freeze for guests in the future.
Both of us have issues with, if we see it, it is hard to resist so the best thing for us was to remove the temptation and clean up the house. Also, to make snacking and meals easier we make all our meals for the week on Sunday's. We also buy Phase 2 items that come in big bags and immediatly put them in snack baggies for individual servings so that we aren't tempted to keep on eating. You can over do it even with the good stuff, so this helps us with portion control.
Hope that helps. Good luck and welcome to the board! ~andrea
One thing that's kept me motivated is I've learned the nutritional values of many foods I used to eat on a regular basis like burgers & fries, cookies, whatever. I started logging my food at a site like http://www.thedailyplate.com & once I saw how many calories & "bad" things were in the food that I was eating, that was a HUGE motivation to make wiser choices. SBD is such a healthy way of eating that you can't help but love giving your body nutritious food choices.
And you may want to consider consulting a fitness trainer for a session or two so he/she can put you on a routine & show you how to use the different machines. And I've heard great things about the SBD Quick & Easy cookbook.
