Meal Replacement

I am looking for some advice on Meal Replacement bars. I live in Canada, so the SB products are not available here (I have searched the city I live in). The problem I have last week was that I was at work (moblie) and was stuck with no food/drinks for 6&1/2 hours. I was HUNGRY. I can't take a cooler or many packages of snacks, basically just what I can fit in my pocket. The potential is there to have the whole day like that. It doesn't happen often, but I am moving into phase 2 in 3 days and would like to have something I can grab out of my work bag and throw in my pocket to fall back on. I have read on the Boards that SF EAS carb control are acceptable. Are there any others I can be on the lookout for ? And what is important to look for as far as ingredients go ? I have been doing well so far, this site and the discussions have been wonderful. Thanks in advance :)

Hi & welcome,

I really try to stay away from meal replacement bars even in a pinch.

I just happened to do an ebay search for South Beach Diet to see what might be there, and noticed South Beach Diet bars. I don't know if the prices are good because I don't buy them, but maybe that will help you.

Hi!

I have used EAS bars and some other ones in a pinch. I look for bars that are almost equal in protein and carbs (rather than the high protein ones) with low or no trans fat.

I don't use them all the time, but like you, find it's better to have 'something' around for those days you get stuck.

I am also going to get anyone who goes to the states to get me some south beach diet bars!! ;)

It's not really a meal replacement, but I sometimes buy the little bags of sunflower seeds from the vending machines. They are about 2 ounces, which I think is the nut allotment for the day with sunflower seeds. If I eat one of those before I get to the point where I am starving, it will usually hold me for longer than a bar will --- 2 - 3 hours.

Good luck!
