To all the other phase 1 folks:

How long in phase 1?

What's been your biggest temptation and how did you handle it?

Have you lost weight or inches?

I've been on phase 1 a whole week now. I did cheat some yesterday b/c I went to a family reunion and DH's aunt gets her feeling hurt very badly if everyone there doesn't eat some of her german chocolate cake. We tried to split a piece but she caught us so we wound up eating about 3/4 of a piece each. But that was it. It wasn't near as hard as I thought it would be since there was such huge variety of vegetables and the BBQ was very lean.

I weighed this a.m. and think I've lost about 3 lbs (our scales are not real accurate). So I'm happy at this point.

Have a good day!

"I have not begun exercising yet. :::hangs head in shame:::"

Don't feel too bad. We haven't either - not seriously anyway. I did get in 20 minutes on the exercise bike my kids gave us for Christmas. I'm hoping that once I start to loose a little more weight, I'll have more energy and be able to exercise.

I completely understand your waiting until after DH's birthday. We waited until after Easter. DD was home from college and wanted shish kabobs. That was okay but the rice and banana pudding she also wanted wasn't okay. We sent the leftover pudding to MIL who was sick and couldn't come to Easter dinner. That way we could start without it in the house.

Good luck and congratulations on your 4 lbs!!

Sorry about the birthday mix-up. Congratulations!

You know my DH has so much more will power than I do but doing it together has helped me tremendously!

For several years, I've tried to loose weight and just eat healthier. DH has resisted at every turn. He wouldn't eat chicken unless it was fried. He wouldn't eat fish unless it was fried. He had to have potatoes at every meal. It was very difficult.

A few weeks ago he went to the doctor to have a wart removed. First doc visit this century for him! His blood pressure was 170/110. The doc froze the wart off and then had a long talk with him about how this would ultimately shorten his life. I think she did a very good job of scaring him. So he started saying no to the 2 desserts his mom fixes him every day for lunch. He actually ate and liked grilled chicken!

Oldest DD (who is in the medical field) talked him into SB. Having him on board has made it so much easier! I was never able to stick with anything for more than 1 week alone.
