update on my progress
5
Sun, 04-22-2007 - 12:54pm

Today is (what would be) day 12 on phase one.

However, due to the fact I was feeling great and not having any cravings or anything, I skipped ahead a little and added a serving ,(sometimes 2) of grains, and an occasional fruit after week one.

I am steadily loosing lbs. Not quickly, but the scale is going in the right direction. I have lost 5.5 lbs. I lost 4 lbs. the first 4 days, (then I gained a 1lb, and 1/2 !??) Then I lost that, and another 1lb., and then I am steadily going down about 1/2 lb. at a time. I picked up my 5lb. bag of ww flour the other day, and thought "wow, 5 lbs doesn't seem like much on a scale..., but this is heavy!" I'm feeling very good about my progress!

I hadn't exercised yet. (I hate exercising!!) Dreaded it!! But I knew I had to ... So I did it!!  I got on my treadmill and walked briskly for twenty minutes this-morning after I put the baby down for his nap.( Of course my sink full of dishes I would normally do during this time are still there...) :0) But, I got a workout in! :P

My dh has been gone for 2 1/2 days, and I have been all alone with the kids, it is exhausting. I need a break!!! The baby is at my heels all day whining, and I can't get anything done...

Amazing as it is, I have had no desire to eat any junk at all. I haven't felt "hungry" in 2 weeks. When it is time to eat, I eat, and I am satisfied.( Yea me!) Food has controlled me for sooooo long, It feels awesome to be in control of my eating. My daughter (and the rest of my kids for the most part) are following my lead and eating only good food. Nary a potato chip has been crunched in this house for a long time, even though they are sitting in the cabinet (for DH, if he wants them.) It was just me and the girls last night so we had big salads with cubed turkey breast and raw veggies, with some cut up mango on top. Oh and a slice of WW bread w/ spray butter. My daughter who always asks for seconds, (and thirds...) didn't even finish her salad. She was "full."

My MIL offered to bring McDonalds to the girls yesterday when she came to watch them, and I said  "No thanks!, I'm really trying to feed them better!!" I think she was annoyed, but my girls were just as happy eating the nutritious meal I fixed them, as they would have been eating that greasy burger and frys! Blech!

Good luck to the rest of you who are starting (and finishing) this phase...

We are on the right road!! :0)

What a great update! You are really doing well - especially resisting temptation.

Continued good luck!

Congratulations on your success and congratulations on teaching your children now before they wind up with all these bad habits! If my kids were as young as yours, my MIL would think I was doing something awful to them. However, I've been real proud of her with this. DH eats lunch with her everyday. She loves to cook and honestly that is about the only thing she enjoys that she's still able to do. She's having a blast experimenting with his food. Of course, she and FIL sit there and eat their beef hash with biscuits and mashed potatoes right in front of him. So far, he seems to be handling it pretty well.

Also, if I were alone with my kids at that age, I would be stressed and would be so tempted to eat the minute they got put down at night or through naps. I'm a horrible closet eater but I'm doing pretty well at night. I've turned to computer games instead.

Congratulations on exercising. I've hit the bike a few times. It's so very boring. There's no tv in that room. I try to read but sometimes it's hard to focus on the print while I'm moving (LOL).

He's loosing weight pretty well - I think around 8 lbs. I've lost between 4 & 5 lbs. It keeps flopping back and forth. Today is the day we can move to Phase II but we're going to try to stick witth Phase 1 a little longer except for breakfast. He misses oatmeal and I miss my cereal. I did eat a little banana pudding over the weekend. DD was home from college and wanted some. She also wanted spaghetti but settled on hamburger steak and veggies instead. She was sick so I made her some pudding. My intention was to not eat any but sweets are my downfall. I think I had around 4 bites. I used sugar-free, fat-free pudding, reduced fat vanilla wafers, skim milk, fat free sweetened condensed milk, and lite cool whip. I did pretty good though - all the leftover pudding went back to college with her - 1 container for her and 1 container for her b/f. The leftover wafers went back too - good snack during final exams!

Hi. Just wanted you to know my weight has been flip flopping too. So frustrating, especially since (I believe) I am following this correctly.

I am going to be more conscious of my serving sizes, my cheese/olive oil,
