Can I have a "Do over"?

This has been a horrible week! I know I posted about my lack of planning being my downfall, but since I posted that, things have gone downhill rapidly.

My poor 8 year old DD has been sick off and on for 3 weeks now. I had thought she was fine, but by Tuesday night we were back at the doctor, and she has strep. She was up most of the night - up crying and begging me to take her pain away (she had already had pain killers, there was nothing I could do for her - it was horrible), then passing out for a while and doing it all over again.

The next day, my DH came down with a stomach bug and stayed home from work (he NEVER misses a day EVER!). He's still recovering from that - he's back at work, but definitely not at 100%.

On top of that, I developed a neck pain that wouldn't go away - thought I had slept wrong or lifted something wrong, but I have discovered it's a nasty virus that's going around this area. It's still bothering me a little today.

Yesterday, my poor DD with the strep developed the neck pain virus that I have had - don't worry, I have called the doctor and will rush her to the hospital if she has vomiting or a high fever. I know it's not meningitis because I have had the neck pain thing myself, as well as a number of other people I know, and it's a virus, not meningitis. So just when she is feeling better from the strep she is now in agony from the neck pain virus.

Oh, and did I mention I had to go to the hospital yesterday for an echocardiogram and for a Holter monitor?

Yeah, overall, maybe not the best week to start South Beach. I have way too much going on at the moment to take the time and plan out what I need to. I know life happens and I need to learn to deal with that, but I just don't think now is the time to start a brand new way of eating when I have so much going on.

I just pray my other two kids, ages 6 and 2, don't get any of this!

Don't worry, I'll be back! I don't know when I'll be able to start, but I hope it will be soon.

Vicki,

It sounds like you have alot on your plate right now. I hope everyone is feeling better soon. Take care of yourself and your family and come back when the time is right for you.

Best of luck!

Just remember that if you are making a life long change there will never be a totally PERFECT time. If this is something you are going to do for the next 30, 40, 50 years - you can't expect to only do it during the "easy" times.

During the 2.5 years I have been doing this I have obviously had weeks like that. Many, many. I've dealt with deaths in the family, dh (our only source of income) being fired, a stressful move from CA to TX, being hospitalized, almost had our house in CA foreclosed on, a serious illness with a pet, TWO cars literally blowing up their engines and our family being with any transportation for months, many, many illness for the kids (dd has had 8 ear infections in the last 9 months and we have been to 3 specialists) I could go on and on and on and on.

People who succeed do not get there because their life is easier. They succeed IN SPITE of their life.
