My weight loss journey started 14 weeks ago with diet and exercise... we did a 10 week game amongst friendsin which I went from 249.5 to 234 then gained back over Easter break to start a no bread/carb diet with another friend at 238.
After 5 miserable days of that I had lost down to 235.5 and I discovered South Beach is not only similar to no bread/no carb BUT it is designed for prediabetes which I have...
So, two weeks later.... here is the weight loss update I just posted to my friends/family!!! I AM SO EXCITED and I don't know WHY I didn't google up the ivillage board for south beach sooner!!!!!
I stuck to the diet religiously, straying ONCE with some pizza on day 12 (pre-AF day yuck).
So, I want to offer encouragement that is does work - there were just a few days here and there I was miserable with it but it feels Soooooooooooo good to have done it and been successful!!!
I Hope to reach my halfway point during our next 6 week weight loss game - we started today since we all weighed in!! ;-) And I had told my sister I was going to lose 20 lbs before Tyler's graduation party but that would mean 4.5 more lbs this next week (we said that when I weighed in at Mela's before doing the no bread thing and I was 238). I don't think I can do phase one another week, I have got to get some fruit or something else in, so I am going to phase two for two weeks then perhaps BACK to phase one for two weeks...
P.S. I am at 238 in my siggy pics. ;-)

Congrats on you super start!! I love your siggy pics!
I feel yucky sometimes too, my gut feels flabbier and i'm like, "what the heck?" I've learned that (for me) this means some true fat has whooshed away and my body temporarily fills up with water and then when that goes away the skin tightens a bit, etc. and I'm smaller and lighter! So when i feel flabbier I look forward to feeling smaller soon!
Congrats, i have a sister who needs to jump in and do what you just did, mind if I forward her your post??
Teresa
Hi and welcome! I'm glad you found us!
Congratulations on your success so far...you are doing GREAT!!
So are you starting Phase 2 now? Be sure to check out our Starting Phase 2 link in the Phase 2 folder for lots of great information.
Please feel free to post any questions and check in often.
Forward away and thank heavens someone else knows what I mean - I have been saying to my DH and sis who think I am nuts - that I swear the day BEFORE I look thinner - I FEEL fatter!!! I've learned in the last 3 months that means I am losing but I wasn't sure WHY and you explained it so simply!!!
I did check out phase 2 and I am starting monday since I am grocetry shopping tomorrow. I am taking the most cautious approach b/c I have a tendecy to be all or nothing... and I want to be all healthy eating not just plain ALL EATING!! haha
Thanks everyone for the positive reinforcement!!!! I really appreciate it!
First off, congratulations!!! 12.5 pounds in phase 1 is terrific!!! Keep up the good work!!! Wished I could have accomplished that with phase 1 !!!
And Teresa, I just have to chime in here. I have felt this same way too. I just thought it was because I am now more than ever, conscious of my weight & flabbiness. Now maybe I can look forward to the next part...looking skinnier!!! I have no idea what is going on this week with me. I usually struggle to lose 1 pound a week. But this week, the scales are showing almost 2 pounds. Gotta be something wrong. My luck, I'll see a swoosh upward on Monday morning weigh-in. That's when it usually happens....

Jennie, I was really scared about moving to P2 also --- in a way, the freedom of P2 is scary! You can do it! You may need to experiment a little to find what works for you (for example, I have to eat protein with my cereal in the morning or I get cravings) but unlike P1, I can definitely eat this way for the long haul. Good luck, and it's great to have you on board!

Keep up the great work!!! ~andrea :)
