Hi everyone! I'm new to ivillage and to SBD. I googled SBD support and found this board and I'm so happy I did!

I've already learned so much just by reading all the posts here.

Okay, today is day number 1 and so far, so good I think.

B- 2 turkey sausage, cheese stick and coffee w/sugar free creamer and V-8 juice
L- large salad w/grilled chicken
sn- sf/ff jello
handful of pistachios
D - is going to be...steak on the grill w/large salad
sn - will be ricotta cheese(low fat)with splash of vanilla extract and splenda

how does it sound? any advice or words of wisdom?

hope to meet everyone here and make some new cyber friends!

Hi and welcome to our board....I'm glad you found us!

Here are a few tips that should help you with meal planning.

  • Be sure to get a minimum of 4.5 cups of veggies per day (1/2 cup should be from the bean/legume family).

  • You also need 1 to 2 cups of dairy each day. On South Beach, dairy is skim or 1% milk, plain fat-free yogurt or sugar-free soy milk.

  • Also, be sure to limit your sweet treats to 100 calories per day.

  • Turkey sausage is fine as long as it's 6 grams of fat or less per serving and is for occaisional use (1x/week).

  • I'm not sure what sugar free creamer you use; we recommend Land O Lakes Fat Free Half and Half.

Be sure to check out our Getting Started thread in the Phase 1 folder for lots of information. In the meantime, here are a few links from that thread to get you started on your reading:

thank you! that is great info you gave me and I appreciate it so much!

so overall, how does my day look? the turkey sausage....I won't do that again this week but it was yummy, I need to check the fat content.

So I guess cheese does not count towards your dairy intake?

it's dinnertime and I am starving!!! may have to eat a salad before and during dinner, lol!

Yes, veggies are unlimited so if you're hungry feel free to enjoy a salad.
