my first 2 weeks of SBD

I try to stick to the allowed food list and exercise 3-4 times a week. So far I only lost 1 kg. A little bit disappointed but I try not to over concentrate on the scale. At least my abs is more flat now. Good thing about this diet is I don't have to starve myself to death. But it is more expansive than I thought because I don't like to touch the stove, plus I am Chinese. You know how chinese meals are. RICE. RICE. RICE. NOODLE. NOODLE. and MORE RICE. At home, I have to face those meals ARRRHHH. At japanese restaurant, I try to pick non starchy food such as sashimi, oyster, spinish salad, tofu..,etc. Thank god I don't have allegy to seafood. Everytime I walk by sweets or bakery section during grocery shopping. I always think "walk away, walk away, what are you doing, do not reach them, walk away!" BUT! You know what's the worst? I work at a poultry processing plant as a quality control. That means fried chicken pieces, nugget, burger..etc. FRIED. FRIED. FRIED. You name it! I have to taste them and try not to swallow the chicken because I know it will go down to my thigh. ARRH! Why don't food just leave me alone.

OK. That was my first two weeks of phase 1, but that sounded like I was whinning.

Anyways, I will keep at least one more week of phase 1 and see how I am doing! Good luck to everyone too!

Congratulations on making it through the first 2 weeks and maintaining your motivation in spite of the modest scale movement! Consistency is key! Are you managing to get in the 4 1/2 cups of veggies a day? You'll do great if you just stick with it!!

I'm into week 2 and still staying pretty strong. I've lost almost 5lbs and am preparing myself for that to be it--but hoping to shed a few more by next week. The prepping, chopping, and planning can be a bit tough on top of all the other demands of life--but it's more than worth it. And I keep reminding myself to make it a Priority--b/c health is more important than most things we prioritize.

For some reason I bought an unsweetened chocolate chunk (for baking). The taste is awful if I eat it like that. I guess I was desperated for some chocolate. Any quick and easy recipe to make a dessert from unsweetend chocolate I bought? Thanx!

In phase 1 it's really not a good idea to be eating too much

I'm 100% Chinese and have followed the principles of SBD for over 4 years. I consider "genuine" chinese food to be a cheat meal, try to control portions.

At home, brown rice is wonderful, also there is brown rice vermicelli and whole grain udon and soba.

Many traditional Chinese foods can be made SBD friendly with a few modifications.

I feel the longer I stay on phase 1, the more I cheat. So disappointed at myself. I gain back the weight I loss. I don't know if I should move on to phase 2 since I am already eating like phase 2.

Thanks for the messages. I feel I am not alone on this diet. Well, I wouldn't call a diet anymore. It's more like I am trying to eat healthy and hopefully loose some weight unconsciously. I now more concentrate on what I eat than the number on the scale. I always get too emotional after weighing on the scale and knowing i am not losing any weight. I also need to train myself to stay away from those starchy and greasy foods cooked by my "evil" parents. They always like to tempt me. ALWAYS.

Mine always try to pile me with unhealthy food when I go to visit - when I lived with them, breakfast and lunch was usually on my own, and I'd take matters into my own hands by cooking dinner, I'd use a mixture of white/brown rice (better than all white!) That's all I really needed to do, since our dinners were always a lean meat and a vegetable. I'd buy a lot of my own groceries. You have to take control of the food in your house if you want to eat healthier. TELL your parents this.
