hi everyone.  my name is marissa, 27, married and mom to a 7 and 4 year old.  i started the "beach" on monday (5/21) and i am really very exctied about my new journey.

michaelann--i read your story and i have to say, it was like reading a journal entry of my own life.....after my 4 year old was born, i ballooned into someone i don't recognize.  i'm the person/wife/mother that i want to be and all my "issues" stem from the fact that i am not happy with the way i have just let myself go.  i realize now that i need to make major changes in my life to get back on track.

my husband is very supportive....he decided he wouls follow the plan with me, which ended up being a lifesaver because sunday afternoon we went thru our pantry/frdige/freezer and tossed all the crap!! not having any temptation in front of my face is a wonderful thing (my kids have eaten very healthy--whole wheat breads, fruits and veggies, cheese for snacks....i have always wanted them to be healthy so i would hide the junk food on the upper cabinets so they didn't even know they were in the house......not sure why i could that for them, but never before for myself).

its officially the start of day 4 for me and my cravings seem to be gone.  my "caffeine withdrawal" headache went away tuesday night--thank goodness!--i was up to 7 cans of pepsi a DAY--how gross is that?  i have never drank so much water in my life! i feel pretty good, not bloated and today i woke up with energy--ENERGY!!--i can't believe it! my entire life existed around sugar and white flour, and i never planned out what i was going to eat or when, so now at night i have been sitting down and writting a game plan for the next day, just to make it easier on myself.

i'm so glad a group like this exists and i'm looking forward to sharing my new adventure with everyone.

starting stats 193.5lbs....goal 120--high school weight (height 5'0)

It sounds like you started off on the right track!! It's great when everyone in the family offers their support.

Be sure to check out the Getting Started thread in the Phase 1 folder for food lists, a meal planner and lots of tips.

Good luck and let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Marissa and welcome to the board!

I can relate to a lot of what you wrote as well...I used to do the same thing with the food. My kids always ate relatively healthy and I used to keep the "junk" out of their reach. I was always worried about them being healthy, but never thought of myself. I think unfortunately we do that as parents. We get so focused on the kids we forget to take care of us too. But I have learned that by taking care of me and making my health a priority as well, it has benefited the kids and the whole family.

I can also relate on the soda - there were days I polished off a whole 2 liter of REGULAR soda by myself. Makes me ill to think of that now! And - I was also 27 when I started, and my kids were 7 and 4! Plus I have a Christopher as well!

Sounds like you are off to a great start! Good luck!
