food question, pickles & hummus

I'm on my second first week. So far I've found the diet too good to be true. (I was off the diet due to a cross country move) But, I'm not sure that I'm doing it right. I think I'm eating too much cheese. Anyway, I have a question about pickles. I couldn't find anything about them on the list. I also checked the Good Carbs, Bad Carbs book. Are pickles ok to eat? Also, I like the store bought hummus that is flavored, like the sundried tomato or three pepper. I think these are ok but I wanted to double check.
Thanks,
Claudia

Claudia,
Dill pickles are fine to enjoy and sweet pickles are allowed as long as they are artifically sweetened (no added sugars).
Store bought hummus is allowed, but limited to 2 tablespoons per day due to the fat content. If you make your own without oil you can have more. There are some recipes here on the board - you can use the search feature to find them. Either way, it counts toward your veggie requirement.
Cheese is fine as long as it's low fat (6g fat or less per one ounce serving). I wouldn't worry too much about your cheese intake in phase 1. It's more important that you eat all meals and snacks, and choose foods from the Food
