I've been lurking on the board for a couple of weeks but now I need to come out in the open and talk about my need to get on SB and stay on it. This week I'll be 60 but I don't feel or look it - except for my weight. For 5'7" I am dreadfully obese at 250. In my 20s and early 30s I maintained around 130 lbs but a emotionally abusive marriage took it's toll on my ego and my determination. I've been divorced now for 10 years but can't seem to get the motivation and resolve to stick with a life change in eating. A couple of years ago I went on SB and lost 25 lbs then started cheating and finally left the Beach behind. I gained it all back and then some.
Now I look in the mirror and don't recognize ME! I have the SB book and recipe books but need to plan, plan, plan - in addition to expanding my food choices. During the week, my breakfast is usually (real) bacon, and a scrambled egg, or sometimes a cheese stick and some fruit. I do love milk and probably drink too much with the excuse that it is skim (11 carbs per 8 oz cup). Lunch is really hard. I normally take my lunch of a chef's salad, chicken salad with lettuce, sometimes sushi with its small(?) amount of rice. I try to remember snacks but most times I forget them. For dinner I really need to plan ahead so I'm not tempted to give in after a stressful day and go out to eat. I have a Total Gym at home but haven't used it in a while.
I will appreciate any help and advice that you ladies can offer. Patricia

Hi Patricia,
It's nice to meet you!!! I'm Rebekah. I'm 43yo and around 5' 7". DH & I started SB on January 9 of this year. I was 252 pounds then. I'm around 225 now. Can't tell you how much better I feel at this weight, than my starting weight. Lots more energy and now I actually don't dread the exercising as much as I did in the beginning!!!
I'm not sure what suggestions I can offer you, but just wanted you to know that you're not alone out there. I usually plan about 2 or 3 dinner menus at a time and just 'wing it' for lunch. DH likes to take either leftovers or a SB frozen dinner to the office with him. And I usually eat a salad or make a sandwich with a side of raw veggies for lunch. I have gotten a ton of great recipes from here. So many that we rarely eat the same thing twice!!!
Good luck to you in sticking with SB this time around. We're all here to help each other!!!
Rebekah

Hi there Patricia -- so glad that you've joined us, sounds like this group of perky and supportive gals might be just what you need to hold your cyber hand along the way here.
The first thing I would suggest is simply reading through people's daily journals in the iJournal section, where you'll find lots of menu ideas, all the different ways people are managing to fit exercise into their life on a consistent basis, and the day-to-day struggles we all face in trying to make the best choices for our health, our families, and most importantly, ourselves. I'm sorry your early marriage took such a toll on you but hopefully as you take charge of your eating, you can regain the Patricia who was positive, energetic and proud of her achievements. We're here to help!!!
SB is a satisfying and healthy way of eating. It does take planning to be successful. It helps me to plan and shop for meals on the weekends for the week. I have a notebook of recipes I've accumulated and browse through them to decide what to fix each week.
I'm sorry about your emotional setbacks and I hope you get encouraged from the posts on this site. Good luck and God Bless. Kim
Welcome!
Welcome Patricia!!
