I posted yesterday about having a hard time getting in my proper dairy amount. I went to the grocery store to find some chocolate milk that I could have ( i dont drink white milk at all).

Does anyone know if the Simply Start Skim milk is okay?

The stats are below:

(p.s. can someone please help me figure out what is okay and not okay based on Nutritional information?)

Sorry, but that milk is full of sugar!!

On South Beach, you can have skim milk, 1% milk or sugar-free soy milk. Plain, fat-free yogurt also counts as dairy.

There were lots of ideas for you yesterday. Did you try to make your own SB chocolate milk? I LOVE the Soy Slender chocolate and cappuccino flavors. Also, in the link I gave you there are smoothie ideas.

Here's another tip: I just had a smoothie for breakfast that had 1 cup of yogurt and 1 cup of skim milk - so I satisfied BOTH of my dairy servings for the day!

Karen,

I did see the post from yeterday. Truthfully i was jsut hoping I would stumble upon a milk I could have. I am a bit skeptical about anything with Soy in it.

Do you know where i can purchase the Davinci syrups?

Sorry, I'm still a bit frazzled with what I can and can't have. I guess I'll get the hang of it eventually.

You will get the hang of it eventually. It takes time to really get a handle on the foods to enjoy lists and to learn how to read labels.

Is there a reason you are hesitant about soy? Truthfully, I had never tried a soy

i have tried different soy power bars and hated them. I have also had soy based protein and hated it as well. I am particular about textures of things and I think thats what throws me off. Like yogurt and Whey Protein throw me off.

I don't blame you for being turned off then. I want you to trust me. Try Westsoy's Soy Slender....you won't know it's soy. It just taste like very creamy, not-to-sweet

You WILL get it all down - and then tailor it for yourself!

I was a bumbling mess my first several weeks in phase 2 - and never got my dairy in phase one... lol but I think I've got a good handle on it now.... 14 weeks into it!!

I drink kroger brand skim milk. I am lucky enough not to like chocolate so that saves me some grief there, lol.

NUtritional info on Kroger brand skim:

8 ounces is one serving
80 calories
no fat
120 mg sodium
12 g carbs
11 g sugar (IS THIS STILL HIGH??)
Protein 8g

Just wanted to let you know that I also found the DaVinci SF syrups at Sam's Club...cheaper than the grocery store. They didn't have a huge selection, but did have SF vanilla, caramel and now raspberry. I have been putting the caramel in just about everything and it is delicious.

Jennie,
Your skim milk is fine. There isn't added sugar. That is the naturally occurring lactose that's in milk.
