How often do you weigh yourself?

Now that I'm in Phase 2, I've decided that it's really counterproductive to weigh myself every morning. I'm gonna switch to every two weeks.

I'm a big believer in daily weighing. For me personally I think it has actually saved me a lot of stress and has given me a better idea of how weight fluctuates and how weight loss is not a steady/consistent thing.

During my weight loss phase, my weight would fluctuate by 1-2 pounds on a daily basis. Some times I will have "high" days, then low days. But by weighing daily I know when there is a REAL gain vs. water retention.

For example, one week may look like:

M- 117
T - 116
W - 116
Th - 118
F - 116
S - 116
Sun - 116

Now, did I really gain two pounds between Wed-Thurs, then lose 2lbs between Thurs-Fri. Of course not. But what if Thursday was the ONLY day I weighed for that week? I would have thought my "real" weight was 118 and that I had gained. And if I waited a full week to weigh again, it would be a whole week of stress. If I had just weighed again the next day I would know it was just water retention.

It doesn't work for everyone, it causes some people more stress. But for me I think it gave me a more realistic perspective of the scale.

I do know that I am bloated right now. I just don't want to get into a negative mindset where I step on the scale, see that my weight is going in the wrong direction and use that as an excuse to completely go off the diet!

firebird mom, I read your story, it's quite inspirational. BTW you look great! A few months ago, I went off 2 different medications, now I am trying to lose weight too. I have two kids and never really lost all the weight from the first baby. When I was 18, I weighed 118. I'd love to get back to that weight again. I weigh about 151 now, but when I started this diet I weighed 159 so I am going in the right direction.

I way daily. I just like to make sure I'm keeping on top of things. My weight fluctuates 1 to 3 lbs daily so I just make sure that I'm not gaining on average.
