Modified phase 1 for a mommy?

OK, I am new here, I was turned on to South Beach by JennieMadsen. I am nursing my 18 month old currently, but I would be thrilled to wean. It just doesn't seem like he is ready. I want to lose some weight before TTC and I think that the faster phase 1 weight loss is necessary for me to be motivated for the rest of the weight. I am on day 3. I am doing well and I feel pretty good. I am taking a multivitamin and I included an extra healthy snack whenever I've been hungry, since on days when I work I am awake for almost 20 hours. Anyway, I have read that it is recommended to skip to phase 2 while nursing, and I plan to have whole grains or fruit if I feel weak or bad in any way. I don't want to unless I feel like I have to though, kwim. Has anyone had success in phase 1 while nursing a toddler?

Cathy's right, moving to phase 2 is the healthiest way to go. Keep in mind that phase 2 is the REALweight loss phase.
