Hello!

I start today! Wow am I glad to have found this board, it will be a great help to me!

My name is Michelle I am 27 I have been married 9 years and I am the mother of three kids.

I am 5'4 or so and weigh 130. My goal is 120. I feel like a healthy weight for me would be 118 to 120. I have gained about 10 pounds over the past 6 years or so, and want to shed it. Last summer I was down to 125 or so, and was much more comfortable. Soooooo, I refuse to go out and buy new jeans/shorts so here I am.

I have read the South beach book front to back, and I have a cook book. I am very excited and ready to start!

I really look forward to meeting all of you, and the wonderful support to both give and receive on this board!

Welcome and Good luck Michelle! I think you will find SB to be great for you! I've been on and off of it for over a year (was pregnant for 9 months of that time!) and find it to be not a diet but a true lifestyle that I can live with. If you find Phase 1 to be challenging (I did the first time around) this board is so helpful for support and ideas. I find the Journaling my food (there is a section below) and reading others for ideas and motivation is the key for me!

There have been some changes since the book was published (like the addition of dairy in phase 1). Hello there, I am also just starting out on this venture as well. My name is Suzanne, I am 39 years ald, not married but in a committed relationship and I have 4 dogs and a cat. I started yesterday and I already feel better. I am 148 now and would like to get down to 120. I have lost weight down to that before just doing the calorie counting thing but the reason i like the SBD is the fact that it makes me feel healthier and more energetic. Also I have hope that the reported loss of bellyfat to which i am prone is true, keeping fingers crossed. I went out and bought the SBD quick and easy cookbook and picked 5 recipes from different sections of it. I went shopping and got all the stuff i needed for those and spent an afternoon preparing everything and freezing in individual portions ( i am the only one eating this stuff, the boyfriend ain't interested). I had a great time doing it and now I am pretty much set for the week. I have not yet weighed myself i am making myself wait until the end of the week. Anyway I am real excited about being able to swap ideas and thoughts etc. with other people doing this too and i am looking forward to getting to know ya'll.

Hi Michelle! My name is Jessica and i just started today as well!:) I also bought the book and the cookbook so i feel like i'll really succeed this time! I think it really helps to know everything there is to know about the diet and also have great recipes! I'm 5'0 and 142 lbs so i need to lose about 20 lbs:( Good luck to you...feel free to message me! I know i'm gonna need all the motivtion and encouragement i can get!!

hot-diggity!! i weighed myself this morning even though i was trying to hold off until phase 1 was complete, and i have lost 5 pounds!! my reward is looking online at the kind of clothes i want to buy when i reach my goal weight. boo-yah!!

Welcome! I wanted to tell you that the way you're cooking for the week and then portioning it out is a really great way to keep yourself on track!! That's what I did the last time I did SB and it helped me be really successful.
