Hi everyone!
I was really reluctant to try south beach because I'm such a potato and bread freak, but after hearing good things from my boyfriend's mother I decided to give it a try. In about the four years that we've been dating I went from 180 to 243.5 as of yesterday- and he's lost about 20lb in that same time! I'm 5'7 and had fortunately had always been able to hide the weight rather well, but I'm at the point where I'm embarrassed to be in pictures and eat in public with people. I'd love to get down to 150 eventually, but I'm taking it in steps- the first goal is to get back down to under 200, the second is to get to my original weight, and then I'm aiming for the final weight of 150. I know it won't come off overnight but I know this is a new lifestyle that I'll just have to get used to!
I've read some of your stories already and I'm really excited to begin my weightloss- thanks in advance for all the support and guidance!

Welcome to the board!! You will only have to give up bread and potatoes for the first two weeks. Then, you'll be able to eat whole grain breads and sweet potatoes as well as whole grain pasta and fruit. You'll even find these types of foods to be tastier and more satisfying.
