Hello Everyone,

I started Phase 1 of the SBD today, I planned for this start date for almost a month. I have read the books and have been a secret lurker on the board for about a month. I am very nervous, I would say I have dieted before. I have been overweight my entire life and I have just been going through life. I am finally making a change and I started today. So, I will be a fixture and I am a little nervous and scared to start something. I just want to make sure I complete Phase 1 and be sucessful. So today....

Breakfast: Ice tea w/ two splendas and turkey roll ups with cheese

Couldn't have my snack, I left it and had to sit through a long meeting

Lunch:  I made turkey tacos for lunch today sans the shell with lettuce and spinach ---Water

Snack: Hard boiled eggs ---ewww I am not an egg person

Dinner: Steak with garlic and lemon zest, spinach and broccoli

I have made extra turkey for more tacos this week in case I feel lazy. I bought 4 different types of lettuce which is so strange.  I am just always making list to see what I would want, I am a very picky eater, I hate leftovers, and I bought just different things to munch on.

Quick Question: Its not in the food list, can I eat Hummas during this first phase. I looked at the ingreds. at the store and its 1g Carb and no sugar. I just didn't know.

Thanks again for all your help!!!!!

I was really nervous to start too. I've tried other diets that started well but weren't a realistic way to live my life. I couldn't stick with it. I started about 9 weeks ago and now it's just normal. (I think 10 weeks is about as long as I ever stuck with any other diet.) I don't really think about it all that much. I can't do a diet that I have to think about all the time. Once you get used to it, it's just how you eat. I only have legal foods in the house. (Except some things for my kids and I only buy them illegal foods I don't like!) My whole family eats better! Good luck to you! It's much easier once you get to phase 2. I love this message board. I hope you do too! :)

Hi, and welcome -- you've already gotten great advice, so I only have one thing to add...if you don't like eggs, don't eat them!

I agree with Joy! One of the best things about south beach is how many food choices we have. Definitely don't force yourself to eat something you don't like!

You're off to a great start! I hope to see you around often!
