I suggest you learn to do squats, lunges, pushups with proper form...and go outside and walk or run for cardio.

Yup, agree with Patty, use your body as your "weights" and you'll really help improve your fitness. One other recommendation I have, as a SAHM myself, is to try to do that outside exercise by yourself. I know you probably see lots of ladies pushing strollers and it looks easy, but I personally really need that time away from my kids (ages 3 and 6) to recharge my batteries so I can deal with the kids when I get back. So if you can get someone to watch the kids and Pledge A Consistent Time (I call it Making a PACT) nearly every day to exercise, you will definitely see and feel results more quickly.

Good luck and hope you'll stick around on the boards -- we love to help newbies!

Welcome to the board! I'm a sahm as well and had no exercise equipment when I started South Beach. At first I thought I couldn't afford a gym, so I mainly did exercise videos at home while the kids were at school (if yours are younger you can do it while they are napping) You can buy them very inexpensively or you can even rent them from the library. There are also exercise shows on cable, my cable company even has then "On Demand" so you can scroll through a list and watch them at any time.

Even though you certainly can exercise at home - you may be surprised if you look into a gym. I highly recommend it. Mine is $20/month, has hundreds of weight/cardio machines, racquetball courts, basketball courts, pool, spa, lots of classes like kickboxing, yoga, spinning, etc. that are all included - plus up to 2hrs per day of childcare is included. My kids LOVE going and doing crafts, playing with the other kids, etc. Plus before they started school it was such a nice "break" to have some adult time. Well worth the $20!
