Day 5 Ph 1 & I blew it!!!!

I'm so disappointed with myself. I had started back on Phase 1 after being off South Beach since August. Today was day 5. I'm a teacher and had "prepared" myself for the treats my class was going to have today(Halloween). We also had a luncheon provided for us by the PTA. I passed up the luncheon food and all the goodies and ate my legal stuff at lunch. Then, at 2:00, my class had their treats, cookies and stuff, and I passed all that up. (sugar addiction is my biggest problem) Then, after school I devoured a cupcake that someone brought me. (I had planned on throwing it away after school was out, but I caved) For dinner, I went ahead and fixed a chicken, broccoli, and brown rice casserole since I'd already messed up. So, I've had sugar and a starch today. Should I start back tomorrow as day 1? or day 6? Kim

Still call it day 6. Tomorrow is a new day! You can do it. One slip up does not make you a failure. Everyone has their bad days. If you started over every time, no one would ever make it to Phase 3!

The most important thing to keep in mind as you are eating on this plan is to not throw in the towel after a treat. The mistake wasn't in eating the cupcake -- that stuff happens. The mistake was in thinking "well, I already blew it today so I may as well just stay off track the rest of the day." This flawed thinking will really derail you, trust me. If you treat, get back on track *the very next meal*. Have a SB-friendly snack or meal and wipe the slate clean. You'll feel so much better not only physically but mentally as well, since you won't be beating yourself up so much.

I agree with Mags.

I treat prob too often, but I enjoy food, I enjoy a treat and I am going to have to eat SBD style my entire life, so if the weight loss is slower but I am enjoying myself and feel GOOD then that's what I focus on.

(However, for the holiday challenge - it's ON)

Anywho, just keep going and know that there are always special occasions - holidays!!
