Can't lose in Phase 2
| Sun, 11-11-2007 - 7:49pm |
Hi everyone. I'm new here. I was on another board which now gives me an error everytime I try to access it! Anyway.. I hate to report that I have been on Phase 2 for 6 weeks and haven't lost a single pound. I have put myself back on Phase 1 for a few days in the meantime and I start losing again. All I added in was 6 Triscuits and an apple a day for Phase 2, but I stalled and never lost another pound. I don't know what to do, I'm quite frustrated and gaining again because I've thrown in the towel. Is it possible that a person just can't have carbs other than veggies? I seem to do ok with the vegetables, just no whole grains or fruit. They seem to make me stall!
Frustrated,
Bek

Hi Bek,
Welcome.
I'm guessing that you stalled because you haven't added back in enough foods.
You stalled because you didn't add in enough fruits and grains. This is very common. Phase 1 sets up for a mentality that the less fruits/grains the "better". WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.
You are damaging your metabolism and causing your body to go into starvation mode by depriving it of those healthy fruits and whole grains. At week 6 you should be eating THREE SERVINGS of EACH. I could go on and on about why, how many people have made this mistake, how often we answer/see this questions, and how we are always, always right and as soon as the person adds more food, they start losing - but I won't ;-)

Well okie dokie!
I had put back on the couple of pounds that I heard most put on when entering Phase 2, and when I saw I wasn't losing, I sure didn't think of adding MORE grains and fruits back in. I'm a lonnnnggggggg time dieter, struggled all my life. I have had 2 back surgeries in the last 2 years and literally, that has stopped me in my tracks.
A few things...
Are you getting in 2 dairy servings daily?
You seem to be eating a lot of cheese.
I probably do eat a lot of cheese, that's an old Atkins frame of mind and I KNOW this isn't ATKINS! I know I know.
I was at a stall too.
Bek,
We must have been on the same board that suddenly went bye-bye!
