I am in the 1st phase of south beach diet. I lost 7 pounds but all of my measurements have remained the same, and my clothes aren't looser. I measured myself on more than 1 scale and my weight is always the same. Why am I losing weight but not seeing any real results??

A lot of what you lose in P1 is water weight.

It often takes awhile for your body to "catch up" with the scale. And a lot of times when it does happen, its all at once. After my first 14lbs I noticed no difference in the way my clothes fit, I was so bummed. And then one morning I woke up and NOTHING fit me at all, every thing would literally fall off! This happened all along the way for me, the scale would move down steadily for 10 or 12 lbs, then BOOM - nothing fit. It didn't happen gradually as the pounds came off, but all in big "chunks" for me.

Many years ago I learned from a doctor that for each pound you lose, an inch will follow. Mind you, this was not for the normal bust/waist/hips measurements, but for all over body measurements (about 21 different areas). While seeing him I lost about 55 pounds and about 60 inches over the course of 6 months (this was a horrible ketosis diet, but under a doctor's care).

With Weight Watchers, which I'm currently leaving due to the suggestion of a different doctor (to come to the SBD) I noticed the same thing.

An inch per pound is about the right proportion. But as said before, your body has to catch up - especially when you are losing the original water weight.
