I have searched and searched on this board and cannot find anything about Tuna Salad. I know that tuna is allowed but wasn't sure if tuna salad was allowed. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. :)

Hi,

If you are referring to all ready prepared tuna salad you have to check to make sure there isn't sugar listed in the ingredients.

Hi Kris,

If your using low-fat mayo you can actually use 2 tablespoons at lunch.

Hey Kris, do you like any kind of mustard??? I have found that if I supplement a little dijon mustard or even regular yellow mustard in there with the lowfat mayo in the tuna salad, it tastes really good. And it also keeps it from being too dry. Also, I like to use the no sugar added pickle relish in mine and if there is any juice in the relish jar, you can put a little bit in the tuna salad to help make it moist.

Just thought I would pass along a few of the tricks I use when I make tuna salad.

Hope you like it Jammie!!! Are you having pickle cravings....yet???

I was allergic to milk & eggs as a baby, probably didn't grow out of it until my pre-teens. So, my Mother got inventive with alternatives to using mayo for my foods. I can remember her mixing up a simple coleslaw for me with just cabbage and a little sweet pickles & the pickle juice. I suppose that's where I got the idea of adding a little of the pickle juice to tuna salad. And as long as it's the sugar-free variety of pickles, I see no problem with it. And it really does give the tuna a little more zing!!!

Another option for tuna is the flavored ones in the packets. They really add more flavor, so I find I can use less mayo. Another option is to thin out the low-fat mayo with plain, non-fat yogurt. I do this in almost any recipe that calls for mayo.
