I have read different things about water weight and somewhere said that you tend to lose more water weight when you are on any type of low carb plan but you gain it back once you start eating carbs again. I'm on phase one and I've lost almost 6 lbs in 5 days and I'm so excited but I'm also afraid that once I start P2, that I will gain back some weight and get discouraged. Any opinions or insight?


In my case, absolutely untrue. I lost 9 pounds in phase 1. When I started phase 2, I didn't gain any of that weight back. True, I didn't lose as fast as my first week of phase 1 (7 pounds), but then 7 pounds in a week is not a healthy amount to lose EVERY week. In my second week of phase 1, I lost only 2 pounds. Since starting phase 2 almost a year ago, I have lost an average of 1/2 pound to 1 pound a week.
While you may go back up a pound or two when you begin phase 2, just know that is temporary. My weight swings either way about 2 pounds on any given day. And when I have a new 'low weight', I can count on being at least a pound or two more than that the next day. I've learned not to be upset by this because 1)there's absolutely nothing I can do to change that and 2)it's only temporary before I will be back down to my low weight and even a lower weight than that. Everyone's body is different, so it may take you some time to figure out how your body reacts. And if you only weigh once a week or so, or if you decide not to weigh at all, you may never notice the daily swings, as I call them.
Please don't be afraid to move to phase 2. Don't risk wrecking your metabolism by continuing too long in phase 1. Our bodies are pretty smart. After a while, they figure out 'low carb' and will begin to hold onto every ounce, resulting in no more weight loss.
